Hi dlsp22,

Aussie news caused the spike

You need to watch what news is coming out

Go to "Calendar" on top of your page

PS:
AUDNZD is one of those pairs that don't do well in the higher TF. Each pair has it's own peculiarities.

Order will open next candle if the previous one cross over the MA according to the rule, but the candle not close above the MA, the order should not open, Right?

I don't know what TF you are on but it looks like it opened here (blue arrow)

It looks like the 5 & 8 EMA were undecided in the D1 TF , you just happened to get caught in a sideways market

Ok, which means you use it semi-auto, right ? ok.

Another thing, in order to do a bit of backtesting and possible optimization, using at least a bit of Walk-Forward Analysis, I find very powerful using two implementations, which I understand not to be fast to insert nor extremely easy (at least for my low coding skills)

1. At the end of any optimization we end up with a set of "best" constant numbers such as Take Profits, BreakEven levels and Trailing Stops. Those are the result of a best value set, which we believe to be optimum. The hardest target here is to avoid overfitting of values, creating the "best" set for the past. One way out is using "variables" instead of "constants". Example: TakeProfit is 1.5 times the average daily range, Trailing Stop is 0.75 of the average daily range ... and so on.
Our optimizations will be based on those multipliers, instead of the pure absolute numbers. I know this can be a bit of coding labor, but in most of cases you end up with much more robust optimum sets, which last longer on live trading.

2. MT4 offers the possibility to have a customized optimization, instead of using one of the poor basic ones (best balance, lowest dd, best profict factor, ...etc) which are all very fragile, tend to overfitting and/or only include one aspect of the results. Check this short article: http://sharpquant.com/general/custom...tion-criteria/

This implementation is actually very easy to code and can lead to incredibly interesting results. One of the most famous custom formula is to maximize "profit/drawdown" so you end up having the highest profit AND the lowest drawdown combined. There are several popular formulas for this. You can also add more than one and with an external variable choose the one you prefer "1,2,3,4 ...." . Here you can find one advanced evaluation formula called K-Ratio: http://www.styleadvisor.com/content/k-ratio
Or, other examples here: https://www.multicharts.com/discussi...pic.php?t=8838

What do you think about these 2 things ? Let me know if you need a hand with some coding, I am more than available (despite of my little free time) to help you in case you need some. Let me know, open to collaborate.

Thanks,
have a nice day.
Lorenzo

Hi,

This week was not good for me. I have HP3.1 on 28 pairs on timeframe D1. The results were not positive.
The main reason seems to me that quiet a few pairs have bounced of a resistance line on D1/W1 that is
not broken yet. Hmm, maybe I should try H4 for my main timeframe.

WOW !!! It has been real quiet on this thread !! I've been checking out the HP on the M5 Charts with H4 trend and have got a real good alternative to the standard H4 entry. This is a picture of the NZDJPY 5M, no exit until H4 trend change .. the advantage that I have experienced is getting into a trend much sooner than waiting for the H4 to align with D1. {image} Roughly 137 pips so far. About 20 of the 30 pairs I'm running have typical results I will be trying this set up for the following week and let you know the results

Lesson Learnt Last week: Trade the D1 Time-frame with all three Moving Average Filters enabled (One Higher, One Lower and the current TF). There are sufficient "re-entry" Trades to secure a few good trades for the week. More trades does not equate to more profits!!!. Here is the narrative {image} Over the 2-days 17-18th August. 24 Trades H4 Timeframe Profit $189.75 Profit/Trade $7.90!!. Arrive at your own conclusions!! Trade well.

Did anyone else get their butts kicked a few hours ago when the USD just went wild against the EUR and GBP. I lost over 30 pips on each. Every time i closed out an order the EA would try to re open. I finally just had to close out all windows.

If you don't know how an EA work on MT4, I strongly suggest you start your research now! Don't install this EA and don't trade anything.. You need to research and learn before trading!

Hi Montego.

I have added a .set file to Post#1
Please use this as a starting point to develop your own; remember that the EA is not a "set and forget" type.
It works best in semi-automatic mode; check all your trades once entered; close if you do not like any.

Trade well!.
