Hi,

does anybody know how to include Daylight Saving Time in your indicator, so the calculation change accordingly?

using logic condition on daylight saving changing. i.e. you need finding when daylight saving start/end, and use logic condition for adjust hour +/- 1, etc.

Can you tell me which logic condition it is?

Sorry, but I guess I'm not quite clear in my earlier post. My indicator can take daylight saving start/end with forward testing by checking broker server time. Problem came after data become past data. Since MQL4 doesn't have datetime for weekofthemonth, i.e first week, second week and so on, my indicator shows double: DST and normal condition apply together and overlap. So I cannot do backtest.

A logic statement is basically an if-then statement.

If x, then y.

I would imagine you'd need to compare local time (computer time) with broker time.

You just need to know the DST and non DST shift and have the EA determine which shift is being used.

datetime TimeLocal()

Returns local computer time as number of seconds elapsed from 00:00 January 1, 1970.
Note: At the testing, local time is modelled and is the same as the modelled last known server time.


You should know your current shift from the broker, and compare that against the computer time. Let's say I'm using EST.

If the shift from GMT to EST is supposed to be -5, but it turns out to be -4, then DST is probably in effect.

The only caveat really is making sure that your computer time is accurate.

but this trick won't work, say if your computer is located in another country while you're trying to determine the daylight saving that's happening in New York?
It doesn't matter where the computer is located.

What matters is what the shift is SUPPOSED to be.

don't you think this will become a problem say if I'm in Australia, and have daylight saving too and trying to trade at US times on Metatrader? Although my time shift can be calculated from the server time, but I would not know the time shift of New York?
