Anyone know the strategy behind this Holi Grail Indicator(HGI)?

The only way to do that is to have it decompiled but that is frowned upon... Why do you necessarily need to know how it works? You can just have alerts coded to it or something.... As long as it gets the job done and makes you profit right?!

Here is the manual. When market condition changes the arrow will remain but should u refresh, then u will observe it does repaint.

HGI has had a lot of applications in manual and robots. Its about the nearest Holy Grail.

Yes. The HGI repaints. Even the developers wrote about repainting years ago this was new and hyped all over.

My advice, forget this in all the years nothing useable came out of the HGI indicators or EA's.
The HGI is a composite indicator that is based on the TMA. Both Hopwood and nanningbob used to belong here at FF. They would trash brokers left and right. Then, one fine day, Hopwood decided that he would start his own forum and took bob with him. They found a broker that they liked, and the rest is history.

The HGI is a wicked repainter with arrows forming long after the fact, and forming in real time only to disappear later. Their alibi to this is that that indicator is telling you what the market is doing in real time, so if it changes, that is what it is supposed to do. That is fair to say, but it cannot be used as anything more than an analytical tool. Many people have tried to pair it with other things to mitigate the repainting, all to no avail.

Hi guys, yes this repaints and is basically a market gambling tool. Listen to Davit's response above, learn the markets, there is no secret key to making money trading. Find a strategy your comfortable with, have backtested and know back to front, and know what are the correct market conditions to apply that strategy, and the most important: apply solid money management.

Never ever rely on a single indicator, specially not on one that has arrows. Don't be naive or stupid. If it would work it wouldn't be free and if it would work it wouldn't cost 100€ or something, if it would work it wouldn't be for sale.

HGI is hardly a single indicator. It's an amalgamation of many indicators, collected together is a way meant to make it easier to understand for the trader.

It wouldn't be free? What? That's silly. People come together to share ideas and sometimes code and they have no idea whether the results will be good. Some times they are. 'It wouldn't be free' is a silly defeatest attitude. Some of the best stuff, or at least their precursors are out on the net. You just have to find them, try them and improve them.

Apparently folks were using HGI to good advantage. No indicator or strategy is 100%. So who cares if it repaints. Gosh, that must mean it's not 100%. You stare at the charts all day and learn to trade them. HGI is a tool to perhaps make that easier. Learn its imperfections as you would learn price action, only easier.

I just found HGI and built an EA around it and am starting to have good results. Not bad. My EA doesn't know or care that it repaints. All these silly negative ideas that losers use to explain their bad luck.

You can't trade profitably with a negative attitude. It just won't work. And you can't expect tools to be flawless. Deal with them.

Hello,
Did you create a fresh EA from HGI or you adjusted the filters in the Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid EA? If you are using the Holy Graily Bob 'n Grid, I will like to chart with you some more
Anyone that really wants to get the real gist of this indicator, must go to the source as half of EA in that forum are developed around this HGI. Its the only indicator that is given in ex4 format ( only 4 persons have the source so as to ensure it will always be renewed ) as all other indicators are mq4.
For example EURNZD has been bearish since July 7, from my observation since morning I think the bearishness has run its course but I refuse to enter until I get a confirmation from HGI
