The pin bar to the left of this trigger would have been a loss. But I also would have been sleeping when it triggered.
THe bullish outside bar was a genuine trigger.
A pull back entry or a an entry to new high should have been taken.

This trade would have been a loss.
It went .5R and then reversed.

I didnt take it at the time becuase of the big red pin bar 6 candles earlier.
But it was a genuine setup just the same.

Went short at 50% pull back of the pin bar. (The pin bar was more neutral on the IBFX feed)

Up 1:1 and moved stop to break even. (50 pip initial stop)
Still in the trade.

Edit: result. Trade went 2:1. I let it go. THen it showed a reversal (oscilator and price action) so I closed at 1.25R.

price went 2:1 and I exited at 1.2R.
exit was good. price action and oscillator confirmed a likely upward move

Edit: closed trade at 1.5R. I move my stop loss to a 15 pip trailing stop and went to bed. I wanted to give it some chance of having a quick spike up and getting a few more pips. It didnt evenuate and I was stopped out at exactly where my initial TP was placed.

Not a trend trade. (This is not my usual system). So the position size on this one is small.

Price has gone a long way quickly.

EDIT: trade triggered and immediately went .5R then started to turn. But the USD was weak against all other pairs and the jpy was weak against all other pairs. So I went long the worst combination of currencies. If this was the EJ or the GJ it was miles in profit and not pulling back at all. I exited at break even (+2pips). Every pair is telling me NOT to be long the USD right now.

Only a small position taken in my 'aggressive account' as the setup is still likely to work out but is not ideal for me.

Also to consider: this is Monday morning in Europe. We are not in an established trend for the week.

EDIT : this trade went 1:1 on the next candle, and stopped right where James16 teaches it will stop (prior bar highs). I had 50% of the profit left, and closed the trade.

Result: this was an instant loser. Only went a few pips in profit. 1R loss

Woke up to a 100 pip profit.

On the fxpro feed, this was a great pin bar.

But....it was fomc day. I woke up a few hours before the news was due out and closed the trade for +13 pips. But it went up up and away.

Emotions: I was down on myself for missing this trade. In fact I'm still emotional about it even a few days later. It was a perfect setup and I overrode the method. I still need more work on my head. I have demonstrated to myself that I am trustworthy to take good setups only. However I am still dealing with the idea that I let all losses go all the way to the stop but not all wins go all the way the tp. I have not concluded if that is actually a bad thing or not.
