Hi all

i have a suggestion that will help us filter out the issue with extreme spikes which we all know can repaint and i.e to use another indicator instead of Symphonie Trendline Indicator. by looking at this indicator we will be able to decide whether the spike is extreme( will stay or repaint ) and order accordingly.

if the crossover is as illustrated in pic 1 extreme spike is good
if the crossover is as illustrated in pic 2 extreme spike not good and will repaint

i have tested it and when the crossover occurs in this indicator the same time Symphonie Trendline Indicator changes colour , but with this indicator the gap between the two lines helps us determine whether extreme spike is going to stay or will repaint

Hello Symphonie - Trader,

Filtering:

I think filtering with more indicators then the 4 used here will not solve the problem of getting lesser false signals. every new filter passes also winning trades.

management:

the simplier the system the better it is. really imporrtant in trading is to manage open trades correctly. the entries in a mechanical system depents on the used indicators. the exit is what gives you the statistics over long-term if you are profitable or not.
risk-management is also very important because of overleveraging...

Hi Bullzeye
red line = 8 period SMA with shift 5
blue line = 13 period SMA with shift 8
when intersection occurs the same time symphonie trend line indicator changes colour
but in this case after the intersection if the gap is prominent as shown in the attached pic we know the extreme spike is good and wont repaint, more the gap after intersection the better is the health of the trend
red line below blue after intersection = go short
red line above blue after intersection = go long

this i would say could be used instead of symphonie trendline indicator , but as eval has said it is only part of 4 prong system , so when all 4 indicate we go long or short , only then we go long and short

this IMHO will give us indication as to the strength of the trend and also indicate whether extreme spike is gonne repaint or not

Hi Fasy,

Thanks for this. I would say, it should be good to use this to exit instead of simply replacing the trendline ?

Hello everyone, just a quick question. Do you enter when the trendline indicator changes colour and matches the other 3 indicators, or will you still enter if the trendline indicator chaged quite a few bars before?

Thanks for sharing your statistics

But what's this...

Total trades last Friday: 212
Total trades today: 255

Does this mean you had 43 trades on 30 min. timeframe this week?
Ignored

Yes and No. Other people have been sending me things to test so I add indicators and make setting changes and then try them with very small 0.10 lot orders just to test.

According to ARS I am already trading 2.00 lotsize since thread account is over 21k. therefore, lot sizes for testing are so small the impact on the stats is quite small because the profit and losses are so small. But you are correct it does show up in total number of orders made.

So, yes the larger 2.00 lot size are traded striclty by the rules which make the greatest impact on the thread account and no, the smaller 0.10 slot size were in various timeframes as I test peoples other indikators and settings.

Eval,

Your starting of this thread and tireless contributions are much appreciated.

Can you tell me one missing portion of info regarding your 5minute trading experience... When do you start and end your trading day to achieve these results? This insight would help me in determining how best I might follow and shadow your efforts.

rdwatkins,

you are most welcome and i hope you will benefit from this thread.

as to my trading time, i am trading when i am awake and not when i am asleep. so, if i am up and awake (normally european times) i am trading. but it is not uncommon for me to be working during asian session as well..

before starting this thread i would usually trade only 3 days a week and in the european time zone. but i want to make this thread a success and help people to trade better so i make an effort on this startup thread to get it going until i feel everything that needs to be said is said with regards to this program.

i hope that answers your questions.

Hi Eval,
What is the correct setting for SSP in the Market Emotions Indicator on page 1? I downloaded the previous indicator earlier but thought would like to standardize with what is currently being discussed. I remembered it was mentioned as SSP=5 somewhere in the thread but when I donwloaded the indicator from page 1 it was 7.

Please confirm the correct setting and thanks.

Regards.

Hi realjumper & Eval,

I like the idea of more filters meant to avoid the repaint issue (higher highs). Tell me what you think on the TDI (RSI based) extension of realjumper's original shared thoughts...

[i]Note A: Line #2 is a possible entry point despite trend line not being blue (long indication). Why, because all other filters agree. Secondly, if this adjusted system is reviewed, notice that the SL only needs to be the spread beyond that latest low at the Extreme Indicator marker @ point #1. This increases the RiskRewardRatio on this trade...

Let us know how it works out for you.

Only bastid newbies cry about repainting indicators,it's cuz the don't know how to read price action and their still trapped in a fantasy land looking for some magical arrows filled with colors to show them where to place their orders!

If price is going up on a 4hr chart hits the 200 ema then an engulfing candle ensues do you still need the semafor, extreme cycle,3 sma shift 3 to tell you resume selling?,if so take your arse back to babypips and graduate then and only then will you stop looking for the leprechaun sitting...

Moewet,

True....for some reason most people are so hung up on the indikators that they loose the sight of the Symphone Trader System as a total plan.

But it appears that the numbers and profits others are gernerating are starting to finally demonstrate that this system does work.

Thank you for your comments.

I see no one has dicussed whether or not Xard's contribution was worth running alongside or maybe even worthy enough to replace the extreme cycle,I guess I will continue to test myself:nerd:,had a couple of good trades on 30 min and 4 hr chart since starting to trade this no losses but I only traded 2 days this week cause of travel I have about 1 week and half now of trading this total but I will let ya''ll know next week how it's looking

Mediator,

Thank you for your comments....most informative. I too like stochastic oscillators indikator and think it makes a great enhancement to the basic Symhonie Trader System. But I am pretty sure that Extreme Indikator is a forward looking indikator according to that I have read about the elements that make the calculations that determine a signal. That is part of the reason for the bad repaints in this indikator. But again, Extreme is only a signal flare warning you of possible trend change and tell you to watch the other indicators for conformation.

As to exits, I personally use a split system for exiting a trade where 1/2 trade is exited on extreme spike and the 2/2 is done on trendline change. I listed 3 choices in Post#1 but I like Exit Strategy (2) best because I think it has greatest potential for expanded profit.

Again thanks for your comments they are most instructive.
