Let me say first, this is not original with me.

I took it directly from Dr. Bob's method for Emini futures.

Dr. Bob used to be a regular around Woodie's CCI Club and as far as I know, he devised this method.

I don't believe I've ever seen it seen it applied to forex before.

It seems to work really well- better than it does with futures. The breaks across 0 are a lot cleaner with forex.

The charts I am showing are GBP/USD 15M. Although it looks good on all time frames.

There are three types of entrance signals.

These will all assume a long entrance. Short entrances are the reverse.

1. CCI 50 crosses above its Zero line. The CCI 14 must also be above its zero line and price must close above the 34EMA.

2. First Zero Line Reject after the CCI 50 crosses above zero.

The CCI50 has crossed above zero. Then either the CCI 50 or CCI 14 falls below +100 and shoots back up.

3. Slingshot- The CCI 50 is above its zero line.
The CCI 14 dips below -75 , moves upward and crosses zero.

Exits are up to you. Dr. Bob couldn't make up his mind about when to exit either. The entrances are great though.

The loser on the right of the chart is a news bar, which I would not have traded anyway.

How long have you been trading this method? I ask because I myself have dabbled with the 50CCI in the past couple months but haven't been able to devote as much time as I wanted. Interesting note: Dr. Bob has moved away from CCI altogether and is trading on a whole other plan nowadays (along with his pyramid scheme).

What timeframe / pair is that chart using? It would be interesting if an EA could be written with those few rules in mind. For backtesting purposes of course...

I haven't traded forex with it. I have traded Emini Russell with it.

What I posted was a 15M chart- GBP/USD.

Here is a 1H chart- it looks even better.

Try using the Super Woodie CCI indicator. It's easy to find. You can set the two CCIs together in same window as a 50/14...

The MA is a 34EMA.
Its used for the Cross Zero entry.
When the CCI 50 crosses zero to the upside, the CCI 14 must be above zero and price must close above the 34EMA for there to be a long entry.

The reverse for a short entry.

There are no rules other than the ones I listed in my first post.

I have not traded forex with this. I have traded Emini Russell. With futures, I opened two contracts. I had an initial fixed SL. I exited one contract at 7 ticks profit (the amount of the SL) and set the 2nd to break even.

The other I played by the seat of my pants. I used some of Woodie's CCI patterns to exit. Mostly just instinct- not good:-)

This would ne a very effective system if it had clearly defined exits.

The entrances are very accurate.

I tried the 50CCI out and it is good, although at that time I was 3min/15min/60min taking setups with permission of the 50CCI depending on where it was on the hourly TF. Ideally you take a setup on the 3min as long as it is supported or supports a move on the 15min TF and the hourly CCI allows the trade (above 0 for longs and below 0 for shorts etc, cant take longs when hourly 50CCI is below 0 etc). That setup did give you lots of chop if you just took every signal on the 3min and werent careful, however moving to a higher multiple TF combo or really sitting on ones hands on the 3min and only taking the best setups would improve the hit raiot a lot. 5034, 5034z, 5014, +/-100 bounce etc all work very well, but so do a lot of systems just depends on who is driving it . 50CCI is still a favourite of mine though. For stoploss and or targets, you can use the CCI setups. If your entry was a 5034 long, then you could possibly exit when that 5034 fails, 50CCI closing below 0 etc. If it was a 100 bounce then 50CCI closing below the 100 line is another example. Also targets you can use the last swing high to low that broke on say the 5min TF and exit at 126.2 or 161.8 or the 34 EMA on the next/higher TF. Also if the 76.8 on that swing does not break when you get a CCI setup/entry, its a possible warning sign that it may be a dud setup.

One of the exits most often used with this system is waiting for the CCI 14 to cross back over the +100 line (for longs) -100 (for shorts).

Looks very interesting, would you mind linking the original thread by Dr.Bob? I trade Eminis as well and would love to take a close look at this strategy and what ppl say to it.
Thank you

Hello everyone.

Thanks for posting this system billbss.
It looks very simple and effective.

I have added 75 SMA to my chart. It looks like if there is a signal and 75 SMA is in the way price often founds support there.

Dave

I;ve traded this system just as Bill has written it all last week with about a 66% strike rate winning 2 out of 3 trades with ease and consistently. I'm trading on the 5 min time frame during NY session with alot of success using Eur/usd, gbp/usd and eur/jpy pairs only because of the low cost spreads. I'm surprised this thread isn't getting more attention as it's a very good method for good profits. Anyone else using it? Paris
