I know you may have seen the Commodity Channel Index trading system, and it looks rather simple, but looking back at the past few weeks the profits made from its buy and sell signals on the M60 and M15 are excilent. As of today, Im testing the automatic trading system on VT trader with it. Im using it on on the M15 chart with Cable, so far so good, if its profitable at the end of the week, I may take it live on the mini next week. Your thoughts, questions, concernes?

I have tested Various VT trading systems both demo and live. The VT CCI index system is good but can be prone to many fakeouts. Also if the program was corrupted and could not display visual and audible alerts it would be very difficult to analyse the system and determine where to buy / sell.

Try VT Moving average cross system. M30. 3 and 5 WMA.

Works well but need to reduce fakeouts.

P.S Never let an automated computer execute your trades.

I have worked out a system on the GBP for CCI's on MT4 and its working great on backtesting. Over 200% ($1000 to $3300) profit from 6/04 to 7/06 (with 88% accuracy from Alpari data). I need to forward test for awhile but it looks really promising.....and no I cannot share the EA right now Also, working on two OsMA systems for CHF and EUR which are yielding over 200% profit over the same timeframe. All I can say is that I hope backtesting is only half right and I'll be happy Once I get them worked out I could possibly "lease" the systems but still not sure if its even worth it.

Well it does have lots of fake outs, but they seem to be exited quickly, losing no more then 15-20 pips, including the spread. But when it does get it right, it nets a lot more pips, meaning it is a profitable system. Unfortunetly my connection is shitty, and it got droped last night. Low and behold, I was in a trade, and it missed the sell signal and subsquent new buy signal. Now its still open and down over 100 pips, which also caused me to miss out on a 75 pip profit trade. But Im letting the computer control this one all week to see how it turns out. I may disgregard this lose, when I go live I'll have a much better connection.

Thanks for the input guys
James

For those of you who dont know, the CCI trading system comes with VT trader.

Happy Trading
James

PS - Ghost1, how do you trade your moving cross system? Im just letting the computer trade for me on the CCI system, but since the cross system only exits when it enters a new trade, it seems like a lot of profits are being lost.

Jimbezy. You are right. The Moving Average Cross system on VT will only indicate a buy or sell when the two groups of MA's cross. It will not indicate when to close a position like the VT CCI index does.

I once read that closing a position with good profits in FX can be more difficult than opening a position. For exits i try to use a trailing stop loss with Daily Pivots Fib ratios.

Tell me what time frame are you testing the CCI system and is it producing profit?

CCI is giving many false signals...even CCI combinations cantmake it any better. Use some MAs to filter out bad trades..
Yesterday was killer on Cable.

Good luck guys

I had tried using CCI to trade, it does give many false signals thus giving up too many PIPs eventually. From what I can tell, the CCI is very good when it comes to a strong trend, but look out when the signal changes too many times. As for using it as an exit, its good, but it can also have you give up too many PIPs if you had stayed in the trade longer. Always use CCI with other indicators is my suggestion as a confirmation.

Good commen from et_phonehome_2.
CCI cannot stand alone even with any indicator. Yes its good for a strong trend. We cannot use it if the market is neutral and nothing big happens.
Momentum is better than CCI. Its gave an early signal for you to know how strong the trend.http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...cons/icon7.gif

I use CCI along with other indicators. It's one of my favorites but I do not believe in relying on it standalone.

Cheers HECTOR

There is some good information there in the form of a PDF that explains how to use the CCI. Haven't much explored the rest of the site as i need more time to absorb the whole CCI thing.

I find the CCI system to be one of the main tools for me to succesfully trade with.

Overlay a lsma ( setting 5 ) over Woodies and you see so much more.

Lsma overlay shows you when its safe to trade with Woodies have a look at the arrows..its when the lsma line is inside the vertical bars of Woodies. Also when Lsma shows a high reading eg near or over 200, when its a buy, then you know its over bought and it is normally a good sign to close your buys.

Good scalping tool too.

I cannot trade without Woodie. Those who say it gives so much false signals I dont have that experience with this indic.. it has served me well.

Dude,

I have not found anyone better at meshing 4 sinple CCI setups with fibonnacci clusters than Mark Braun. You can get a week trial at his site. I am looking to find 5-8 traders who want to form a syndicate and sit in an office all day together, some of us trading, others backtesting, other doing research and programming. All ages. It would be a blast. But is anyone willing to say..."hey wherever this is located...count me in, at least 6 months out of the year!" Get a trial and please report back to me what you think. I am a follower of Mark's work and will eventually be back in the room if I dont start my own.

Me, I use fibs and candlestick work along with my prop room trading and I lost my drive to trade because I am sitting home all day in an empty apartment and after 4 or 5 years it gets damn depressing. We need an office with a nice view, high energy people, no big egos and everyone just has to have enough to fund there own account to show they are serious. Then we can even have a chat room in the beginning too before we all get together and go live. If you think you have something better than fibs, Im open to anything that will let us make a living with no losing months. Period!

We can even have guys in2 or 3 other chat rooms and I know which are the profitable ones. One for Forex and futures, one for stocks. We can do much together, the smartest trader can do little alone........unless he gets lucky or is a hermit. Success doesnt happen in a vacuum. Anyone who agrees can post here or PM me. Im a 52 year old guy who is ready to devote his life to this and walk away with a suitcase full of cash. Ive already put in many years learning and still I cant make a living on my own. Whomever thinks they can, you dont need me.

peace,
Marc
