Hello, EC,

Thanks for this wonderful thread and EA. It appears to be working great. I downloaded it a couple of hours ago and started a backtest on EURUSD using the default settings from 6/1/10 through today. So far the test has been perfect. However, it's still running several hours later. I have 2 Gb of memory and 2.53 GHz processor and this test is taking forever. I'd like to be able to try lots of different scenarios, but I'm not sure I have that much time. I'll keep testing though. Thanks again.

Hey, if you set tier2_sig to false, so the indicator is not being used on the secondary trades, it speeds the backtest up quite a bit. Of course it kind of defeats the purpose for using the indicator in this way, but you can always adjust p2_offset to accomplish something similar. In fact, you probably don't need to use both at the same time.

I may also try different indicators besides the SuperTrend, and make it an option, which is selectable, then maybe it won't be so slow when backtesting? Of course I don't claim to be an expert on indicators, at least when determining what settings to use, so it may be awhile before I implement something else ... possibly within the next week or so though.

Okay, I just modified shutoff_level for stealth mode and changed it to curb_level. They both do something similar, except instead of adding TP at specified level, curb_level averages out last two trades/levels and, once it reaches 0 or specified value (use curb_factor and multiply by profit_target), it closes out both trades, it opens the next trade (or places a pending) at the point where they closed out ... depending on the criteria, that is. It's one way to keep the number of levels down or, "curb" it at least anyway.

It was designed more for stealth mode, although it can be used either way, although the results aren't quite as apparent (I haven't run any extensive tests) in non-stealth mode. It also has to be set to level 3 or greater, otherwise the EA won't recognize it. This is also a way to disable it.

In order to see how it works, set p2_offset to 0, stealth to true, and tier2_sig to false. After that, you can change it to whatever parameters you want. This just makes it easier to see how it works.

Again, update is included in original post.

Just added pend_delete timeout to SWB_SuperTrend. It's set to delete initial pending orders after so many minutes. I don't know how necessary it is, but I think it might help. If you don't wish to use it, set it to 0.

hi all,
spend some time reading and want to share some thoughts.
am i the only one who thinks is a crime to collect only fraction of a pip on a trade who take sometimes days and levels around 10 ?!?
i really thing that to show his potential Martingale needs TP IN multiplayer!!!the best way to do IMO is a simple rule in the code wish says "when TP in pounds is hit wait for x(custom) number of more pips to close the trade".
I would like see simplest version of SWB 4.1 with added:
1..above said TP multiplayer.
2..delay in seconds(custom) before opening new level.
3..new filter--trade in direction of a MA(custom)wish can collect data from different time frame.
you can call that babe "SWB MPM"(money printing mashine)http://cdn.forexfactory.com/images/s...im/dancing.gifhttp://cdn.forexfactory.com/images/s...im/winking.gif

special thanks to ecTrade!

I just added SWB SuperTrend version (version "M") with manual trading options. I did so because of the way indicators work, which are always lagging, so I thought I would try this and see what happened. So far so good, I think? ...

When running in normal configuration, set auto_trading to true. If would like to start trading with a manual trade, set manual_start to true. And here, if you would like it to continue automatically after first trade, leave auto_trading set to true. Or, if you would like to set all trades manually, set auto_trading to false.

You also have the option to place a manual trade at any time (with magic number and order sequence in tact), whether in auto_trading or manual_start mode. Just select manual_buy or manual_sell, the tp value, and offset value. And here, if the offset value is less than 5, it places a market order. If it is 5 or greater, it places a buystop or sellstop order. Or, if you would like to place a limit order, set limit_order to true.

Does that make any sense?

Have fun!

To the indicator itself? Yeah, sure, I would think so. Or, I could add it to the EA if you like?

hi ectrade,

just adding an alert to the indicator would be fine. when price has cross over the super trend. doesn't matter if the candle has closed. hope you can write the alert. which shows you the currency pair and then give a sound plus the option to turn it on or off also.

at first i thought your super trend indicator shows a flat line like stepmas. but after putting it on a chart, i see that it's like gann-hilo. but i think yours is better. after observing it i believe your indicator would make a great addition to aid in trading. thanks for your help in advance

First of all, it's not my indicator. I got it from this thread here. I a merely using it because it seemed to work fairly well with this EA. Second of all, for some reason I can't get the alerts to work on my computer. It worked fine when I added an alert to another EA the other day, but now that doesn't even work?

Of course I'm not sure whether I was backtesting it or forward testing it. If I was forward testing it that might explain it, but I'll have to wait until my broker opens before I can verify it. If that's not the problem, then I haven't got a clue ... although I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Okay, yeah, I think I was forwarding testing it (without placing orders), because I remember the alert going off each time I modified and recompiled the EA. So, I'll just have to wait until my broker opens (about eight hours) before I can get this going.

You're right, there may better indicators and I'm open to suggestions. I chose SuperTrend (besides being the first indicator I tried ) because it doesn't buck the trend the way the SWB Martingale is setup to do and it seemed to do what I wanted.

I have a current version I'm working on, that uses RSI-20 (not sure what 20 means?) with both M5 and H1 time frames and I'm getting even better results ... although it may be because the EA is laid out differently.

I'm getting ready to go live with this one.

Hey, I'm sure there's a way you can do this, but indicators aren't my specialty I'm afraid. I did get the alert to work by the way (as it requires forward testing), but I can't get it to work properly with this indicator. Like I said before, I could probably get it to work with an EA, but that's because I'm accessing the signal with iCustom() and not trying to isolate it within the indicator itself.

Hey,

I found two different versions of SuperTrend indicator online, one with an alarm. Both are older versions but were created by the same person. You'll have to compare them on a chart with newer version to see what the differences are.

It gives a brief description on how it works here.
