I need help from experienced traders. I have generated random price movement and plot OHLC charts. I wonder if it is possible to distinguish them they are random price charts with naked eyes?

This is why patterns are the fools gold of the market.
Economists have forecast 9 out of the last 5 recessions

not another random thread, please.

the amount of randomness (like many other things) is not quantified by guessing with the naked eye but by strict mathematical methods instead.

If u put the volume i think is possible distinguish from real and random charts. Volume inteded as true volume (traded orders) and not tick volume.

Lubo.

It is tradeable, but not using patterns, at least not the traditional patterns.

Focus is different on this thread. My point is if experienced traders cannot distinguish a random chart from real price movement chart using naked eyes, how naked trading possible?

It's all pretty irrelevant, whether random or not.

If you know it's going to move, it's 'tradeable'.

There are so many threads on the forum. If you think this one is not necessary, you can study other threads. I don't think the existence of this thread create problems for anyone.

My purpose here is to know whether there is a trader so skilful that they can just use his naked eyes to tell. Perhaps, it is possible for me to gain this level of ability.

Your focus stipulates that markets are random. You do this by not explaining what has generated your [random] charts and at the same time claiming that financial market charts are based on the same logic.

That is not the case.

Explain to us what has 'generated' your charts, then explain to us what generates the chart of a financial product. Once the difference becomes clear, you have your answer.

kk, I didnt mean this thread is not necessary.

Allow me to change your question a bit. Here are the charts from mandelbrot's works. The original source will not be revealed now so that we can play the game.

The name of the game is Spot the fake! One the chart is fake and another one is real. Anyone can tell which price chart is fake? Why?

No. I believe there are subtle difference between real and random charts. I want to gain the ability to distinguish them by naked eyes. That is why I post this thread.

The randomising method is here. The chart is generated in Excel and can be downloaded free here.

This ability to answer your question is exactly what I am looking for in this thread. Perhaps, your rephasing of the issue may reduce some misunderstandings here. Cheers.

By looking at the instrument label, you gain the unique advantage of knowing that it is a real price chart. It won't fool you into thinking it could be random.

The 'ability' you would like to possess, would only be of use if random charts would sneak onto your computer screen, trying to make you think they are real - and at the same time entice you to place an order (for which luckily no broker would take responsibility because of non-existence).

So, there we go - the ability you so desire can be circumnavigated.
