Grocery are much more expansive than 2009, for example, the Okan Yogurt, in 2009 it was 600g package and regularly you will find price cut to £1 or 2 for £2 or even buy 1 get 1 free at £1.59. But now the package is reduced to 450g very infrequently you will see those kind of deals. So even if the price stays the same, the package shrinking means that we pay 33.33% more than in 2009, that's 33.33% inflation in 5 years or roughly...Ignored
Regardless of whether we think the official figures fudge or underestimate inflation, policy is made on the basis of official figures.
