Maybe she works 3 jobs bc mass immigration has pushed wages down to a level where one job no longer pays enough.
Mass immigration is primarily a consequence of socialist policies to increse the Labour vote, not capitalism.

Again, nothing to do with capitalism. Here we have the best welfare in the world. The mother and 3 kids would be well looked after. She would be supplemented with tax credits if she is working. I don't think any of us here have a problem with helping those who fall on genuine hard times. Firstly, it takes two to tango and the father should bear responsibility, but let's assume she lost her husband. No problem whatsoever in helping her.

Where I have a real issue is that along with the most generous welfare system in the world, we naturally attract spongers, not just our own, but the world's. Why do you think they risk life and limb hanging onto the underside of a Eurostar train to get into the UK? Or risk death crossing the Med in a dinghy and then again hiding in a refrigerated lorry? Happens very regularly.

The problem is that sponging has become a lifestyle choice for many and they vote Corbyn so they can get more. They are in for themselves to grab as much as they can. They have no desire to work or to better themselves in any way. We have generations for whom this is a "career" choice. They deliberately get fat, so get more money on long term disability. Then they also get given a car (it's their human rights), a nice BMW, not just a three wheeler cripple wagon! So, there are plenty of incentives for many to take this lifestyle choice! If Corbyn ever got into power, that would be it. There would probably never be another election, since the hard left are so disdainful of democracy. It would take us a couple of years of spending, then we would truly become a banana republic.

And in case anyone forgets what Socialism in the UK looks like, here is a reminder:-

Under the Socialist Labour government the mid-1970s had witnessed the strikes and power shutdowns of the three-day week (rolling blackouts), a stock-market crash, a secondary banking crisis, tough credit controls and the humiliation of its begging mission to the IMF for a loan. Britain is a tragedy Henry Kissinger, the US Secretary of State, lamented to President Gerald Ford, it has sunk to begging, borrowing, stealing. Under Socialist Labour, Britain was mired in defeatism, fatalism and negativity with the IMF loan under the Callaghan administration making Britain an international laughing stock. 30 per cent of the workforce were in the public sector.

Nurses and ambulance drivers were on strike. Old peoples homes and schools were closing. The railways were not running. The electricians union marked the approach of Christmas 1978 by taking both BBC One and BBC Two off the air. The country was left with just ITV, to watch (the electricians waited until August 1979 to switch off ITV for 75 days), 30 per cent of the workforce were in the public sector.

More seriously, rubbish was piling high in the streets, creating a health hazard. The most potent metaphor of national decay was in Liverpool. There, a factory was being turned over to storage space for the dead because members of the GMWU union were picketing the cemeteries. Contingency plans were made to bury the citys rotting corpses at sea.

By the decades end, inflation was running at 25%, in 1979, the top tax rate was a pernicious 98%; the bottom rate was 65%. Businesses were hit by corporation tax at 52 per cent. Talent voted with its feet, bringing the expression brain drain into vogue.

You don't get blue flames from gas unless it is pre-mixed with air. Blue flames just as likely to come from copper or other elements getting very hot.

What they would do about the rampant inflation that has so long been touted by the doomsters. Ultimately the US government could just sit back and pay its debt coupon with more US$, now even easier to come by. The pain at home would intense, I wonder who is working on the blame strategy for that?

I agree. Some people do need help and they should get help, those who abuse the system should be paraded around town walking the walk of shame

Yeah the doomsters have been predicting the end of the petrodollar for years but it ain't happened......yet.
Remember all reserve currencies in the past have eventually collapsed and I don't see why it should be different this time.
I think this is the main driver behind all the rhetoric around Iran/Russia/Syria war drums- that would give them something to blame but they can't start it, they need to provoke someone first and it doesn't matter who.
