Hi Gridle,<o></o>
The main problem i see with this program is that too few know about it and use it.<o></o>

Now, for example, there are only 13 traders putting their trade...<o></o>

I think you should get to as much people as you can, first from this forum and then with the site you opened.
Ignored

I agree. The funny part is that over 100 people (as of 9/12/06) have created an account for the service, yet there are seldom more that 15 people using it at any given time. The goal is to get it as large as possible, both from this community and on the website, but that will take some time. Also, I think that the only way people will actually use it is if they see other people using it.<o></o>

I hope that not the fear of spyware is what keeps people out. <o></o>
It could be, kinda hard to say. The only thing I can tell those people is to wait for the web version. Hopefully that will be done by the end of the year, but I haven't even started it yet so God only knows.

There is another thing to solve here: Not all my trades I put manually, some are automated when I'm out with entry, sl and tp (sometimes few). There is no way I can put these trades in the Napstex ... <o></o>
This has been mentioned before. I would love to hear some ideas on this. Doesn't MetaTrader have it's own programming language? Can somebody out there create an Add-in (or do they call it a script?) for MT that automatically dumps the parameters of any open trade to a text file? I could make the 2.0 release check for and read that file and automatically post the trade into napstex. If anybody wants to help with this post back here.

Thanks for the feedback

We just hit 100 users today. I think I started this post less than 2 weeks ago, so that's really not too bad.

Hey all-

Just thought I'd let you all know that version 2.0 beta has been released. Download it from the main www.napstex.com site or click here.

This version offers the much requested chat room, activity graphing, channel user list, and a few others benefits. Weighted orders will have to wait until the official 2.0 release. I need to spend some time with my family...

So far I've installed it on several test machines and I've seen a few users install it with no major problems. Let me know of any issues.

The new 2.0 version uses the same database as the old 1.1 version, so you will still be seeing the trading activity of 1.1 users, but they obviously won't be able to chat with you. Also, this version still uses the 1.1 .NET framework, so existing users won't have to install any updates from MS.

Thanks.

I just wanted to make everybody aware that we're now offering 5 new currency pairs: EUR/AUD, EUR/CHF, NZD/USD, GBP/JPY and GBP/CHF.

The next version should offer user tracking (receive email alerts about a specific user's activity, not just a channel), SL/TP support, limit orders and a few more minor improvements. My life just got a whole lot busier as of Oct. 1, so it may take a bit.

Thanks to all of you using the service, you've improved my trading already.

hello girdl,
If i'm allowed i have 2 things to say,
First, the it seems too slow ( i don't know if other users will agree or if it comes from my connection)
Second , i would recommend a sort of coefficient for every user; I'll explain myself;
Let's say we have 2 traders that goes in a different position ( one short and the other one goes long)
That shouldn't be a 50/50 %
The previous successes or losses of both users should be taken into consideration
If the member have made successfull trades in the past he will have more percentage then the member B that was a looser ect...

That way we can have a more adequate signal

Hope i made myself clear
Anyway thanks for this prog, for now it's not that usefull but the more people join , the more it will be interesting

Good luck

The idea of "weighted orders" was mentioned once before. I may try incorporating that into this next release.

Membership has been down this week. Last week we tapped 50-60 users connected at a time, but this week we've barely hit 20. We have over 400 users now, but most people disconnect when they see how few people are online. It's kind of a catch 22; if enough people sign in and stay connected then others will follow. We still have a pretty strong core group though, roughly 75% of us are positive.

It will be interesting to see how many users we average after the next release(s). I am adding multiple new features that will supply for a richer UI. Hopefully that will help attract (and retain) the crowds.

Perhaps the reason most people dont stay logged in is because maby they have a negative profit score and are somewhat embarrased about it. So they breifly log in, place an order, and then log out so that no one can see their bad score. I myself see Napstex as an online game or competition that makes learning how to trade fun and enjoyable rather then a free signal service; and dont really care for the user weighted % points.

As far as usefullness goes, if you want "free signals", just pick the most profitable user on Napstex and take the same exact trades they do. I myself dont do this but people like paradise103 may find this feature of some use.

PS

When i copy and pasted paradise103's screen name into this post, the text became bold ( I didnt feel like typing it out by hand lol ). And it seems like everything i type after that becomes bold. Oh well.. :-/

Strange about the font thing...

Maybe you're right about the negative point thing. Perhaps some people after connecting their first time randomly opened some orders and forgot about them for a time, etc. thus giving them an unfair bad score. How about I credit anybody with a negative score back to 0? I'm nice, I'll do that.

The next version should be in the hands of my testers by the end of this week (by 10/21/06.) You testers know who you are. This will allow for several bug fixes and added functionality such as:
-SL/TP levels when placing orders
-User-friendly Open Orders by User list
-Single click integration with MT4? (I need some help with this. Anybody have any experience with MT4 programming? Shoot me PM or reply back.)

I have several more ideas for future enhancements, but until the crowd grows I'm not gonna bother. Depending on the results from my testers the next release may be available in a couple of weeks. If you have any other ideas for enhancements, just post them here.

I personally don't use Napstex as free signals but i was trying to add some new suggestions .
I got the idea from dashboard (i think it's dashboard (dot) com) i've read that they use this system to help their clients be on the good way.
As for me , i have my own systems and i try my best not to get influenced with the number of members going my opposite side.

Hey Lyndon-

Because spreads vary from one broker to another no spread is assumed in napstex. The buy and sell prices are the same.

Hey all-

There is a new version of Napstex available on the web site http://www.napstex.com. Version 2.3 addresses multiple bugs and has several new features including:

  1. SL/TP levels
  2. Open Orders by User grid
  3. IRC/Java based chat system (the old web version is available too)

I am still in need of an MT script to provide single click integration between Napstex and MT (any volunteers? )

Anyway, give the new version a try. Roughly 75% of our active users are being very profitable (myself included. )
