Been a programmer, i know its a good program and well done.

But people wil not get into it for many reason ( And this is just a thought )
- It is not automated ( we must tell people what we do )
-- It will have been a better impact if it was integreted with FF (Ajax version instead) or with MT4 EA or script (Librairie that send throws Web service by exemple).
--- lets say a custum indicator that go and get data in central DB to get the Buy and Sell for the current currency.(100 buyer, 50 seller, avg 1,2500, etc...)
- You need experience trader to attract others.
-- You want to use program what Profesionnal use(Trade Forex for living).

- And the program must have this little thing that everyone is looking for...
;) Sorry for my bad english translation :)

for those who have been with the project and have seen the regular problems in the irc chat that the napstex bot has caused I have since removed it from existence, I have not had the time to keep it in check so to speak and when the server hickups it caused the bot to have problems forcing what few users we had out of the channel.
I give my sincierest appologies and hope that no permanent harm resulted.

Some of you may have noticed that the Napstex service has been down for the past several days. I must have accidently deleted some assemblies from the server while working on some other sites over the weekend, I apologize for that.

I have reuploaded the missing assemblies and all should be working well now. Napstex away!

Andrew,

Have you considered telling "Futures" magazine about Napstex? They might find your project interested, and write an article about it.

I would think that that would boost the user base.

No, I hadn't thought of that. I've been racking my brain lately trying to think of a new way to get the word out, maybe I'll try that. Thanks!

Any other ideas?

Submit the software to shareware.com and freeware.com....

Also.... perhaps put keywords in the header of your HTML so that google and others will pick it up.

<META KEYWORDS="freeware, shareware, forex, trading, networking, client/server">
META KEYWORDS = forex, trading, shareware, commodoties, networking, client server, etc.. etc..

I don't know the exact syntax.

I am currently logged in and will be for the next six hours. I'm on the grid tab but I am double clicking EURUSD to enter the trade posted elsewhere* but nothing happens. Obiey is also online at this time.

Am I missing something here? Any help from anyone if girdle66 is not around would be appreciated. Simply, how do enter a trade?

To open a trade click the appropriate cell on the grid. For example, if you want to go long on EUR/USD click on the cell in the "Long" column in the EUR/USD row. Then a small window should appear for you to specify SL/TP.

Hey Snap,
Thanks for opening that back up. That adds a lot of value to the napstex service.

I know where I would like to see this project go but we need developers, girdle alone is not enough, I do have some programming experience but its somewhat limited. so If you want to help chime in!

We need an mt4 programmer, to write a module that will pick up on alltrading activity except personal data and lot sizes, just need to know what pair, direction, SL TP, thats pretty much it.

I would like to convert this into a web application to eliminate the need to install software, I can manage some of this but hosting is an issue I can host on my polar home shell but bandwidth will be an issue as there are so many shell users already using resource intensive tasks. Merlin?? I know you expressed interest in this earlier on and girdle had problems contacting you.

right now we are also using teamspeak but its just me and snap in there, some people log in for a minute say hello a couple times and leave, you all need to realize that the system currently is useless if you don't stay logged in, you don't get any benifit nor does anyone else.

anyways I would like to get everything integrated into one web app. to use voice, IRC chat(may need to host on another server right now its on a french server)as well as statistical stuff.

if you like this project and want to see it continue please give support and help build it up to its potential.

I know of very few things that have been successfully resurrected: Jesus, the Rubik's cube, and (most recently) polo shirts with the flipped-up collar. But I still feel as though the reason for creating Napstex is as strong as ever, so I'm gonna try it anyway.

First of all, for those of you who don't want to read this entire thread, let's bring some of you new people up to speed. The purpose of Napstex is to supply instantaneous trading communication between Forex Traders. I’m not talking about the big dogs with crazy amounts of money to fling about, I’m talking about us small fish. The ones with a few thousand bucks to our name but still want to make a splash. Napstex offers this communication by allowing traders an IRC-based chat window, a grid to enter and view current trading activity, an Open Orders by User list as well as a Channel History view. Traders are grouped into “Channels” depending on their trading strategy, thus keeping like-minded traders lumped together (Scalpers, Position, etc.) You can also configure desktop and/or email alerts, so you can know when a certain percentage of other traders are leaning in the same direction in a particular currency. Also, Multiple skins are now available – nothing too fancy or artistic. But you can choose between Full Mode, Chat Mode or Grid Mode. And they can each be set to “Always Be On Top.” Not a huge addition, but kinda nice.

“Wow! This is a great idea!” you may be thinking. “Why didn’t this work the first time?” Great observation and excellent question. Let’s jump into why it didn’t work before, and what I did to hopefully resolve those issues.

 1. The users had to enter their trades twice - once into their trading platform and then again into Napstex. Traders are inherently lazy, that’s why we trade! Who wants to enter their stuff twice? To help resolve this I have added functionality for automatic integration with MetaTrader. The Napstex installation will create an Expert Advisor, by keeping this EA running on just one of your charts in MT all of your trading activity will be written to a file. As long as MT Integration is checked within Napstex, it will automatically detect that the file has been changed and mimic your trades to the Napstex system. Obviously the old method of clicking a cell in the grid still works, but it’s no longer required.

 1. The IRC Chat window was quirky – some users just saw a grey box. This was because I was being lazy and trying to reuse an existing java based IRC client within an embedded IE window. For this release I have fully integrated IRC Chat which seems to work quite nicely. It’s not as functionally rich as some people like, but it serves the basic purpose of allowing chat.

 1. It was….. soooooo….. slooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww…….. – This latest version uses the greatly-simplified asynchronous web method calls offered by .NET 2.0. Unless you’re a techie .NET nerd, don’t ask me any questions about this one. Just take my word for it: it’s faster.

So this is what I would like to see. I want 50 of us to commit to staying logged in to Napstex for the next 30 days. If it helps us, then great, let’s keep using it and get others on board. If not, then I’ll go ahead and let the domain name expire in a couple months.

And of course, Napstex is completely free. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Special thanks to Dracozny and SnapCracklePip for being my QA department. If you have any questions they’ll likely be able to help if I’m not around.

As always, shoot me emails at [email protected] or [email protected] depending on the nature of your question. I do my best to reply quickly.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention: the installation file is available on www.napstex.com. Whoops, kind of an important detail!

Good trading,
girdle
