Eughh... I thought you were talking about Macron till I clicked on the link.

I guess the French get too much out of the EU. Much of our EU contribution goes to subsidising French farming, including vineyards. They like their high quality food and wine too much. What they don't realise is the subsidies they so enjoy, won't be so generous soon without muggins UK coughing up.

Well, the French have always surrendered to the Germans....

France is one of the big net contributors to the EU (just like us), UK money funds the net deficit nations like Greece. The election looked like a foregone conclusion since the first round of presidential votes. I wasn't surprised Macron won but was surprised at the margin of victory especially after all the terrorist attacks. I don't think that represents Frances true EU skepticism, Le Pen and her party come with baggage and maybe that puts people off.

I think Marine made a bad call when she promised to abandon the Euro. She should have with a 'France first' mantra.

You can be still a dumb kid a 21, however at some point the right to determine your own life has to be presumed.

Still be dumb at 21? - almost certainly will be dumb lol.

Legally in this country the point that decisions can be made as an adult is 18 is it not (Scotland exempt)?

To allow you child to begin undergoing transgender treatment at 15/16 seems totally daft.

Legally in this country you can marry at 16 with parental consent.
At 16 you may also hold a (clean) driving licence without needing anybody's consent.
You are entitled to visit and consult a doctor without parental supervision and without parents having automatic right to know the details.

There are a few things you have to wait until 18 to be allowed to do, that mainly includes getting into debt.
There are a few things for which you still have to wait until age 21, such as PSV and airline flying licences.

The whole subject of transgender is delicate.
Personally I regard it as sad, other cultures have much stronger views.

Parental consent is the important part, according to the NHS website some 17 years olds can be refereed to adult clinics and can consent to their own treatment, but prior to that there must be parental consent.

This isn't a unique case though, there are other cases on people much younger.

Personal opinions obviously matter. You might believe gender dysphoria is a physical condition (i.e. right mind but wrong in the body), or a mental condition (i.e. right body but wrong in the mind).

I believe the latter, I think gender dysphoria is along the same sorts of lines are Schizophrenia described by the NHS as "unusual beliefs not based on reality". The reality is that many of these people are objectively biologically male (or female) so for me it is a mental problem.

This is confirmed somewhat by research that suggests there is no evidence gender reassignment helps with feelings of gender dysphoria:

The French revolts are usually driven by their farmers. Just wait till their EU subsidies are cut. Without our money, France is going to have to step up and they're not going to be happy about that!
