Disliked{quote} Macron doesn't look like a President, and he needs to practise his on-camera techniqueIgnored
Disliked{quote} Apparently the turnout was 75.3%, the lowest since 1969, meaning that 11.4 million of the 47 million who were registered to vote chose not to. 3 million handed in a blank ballot and another million spoiled their ballot, all records for France. I see a lot of trouble brewing!Ignored
Disliked{quote} Oh My please now I will be stuck with that image. I need mental wash cleanser NOW! Yuck!Ignored

Disliked{quote} Eughh... I thought you were talking about Macron till I clicked on the link. I guess the French get too much out of the EU. Much of our EU contribution goes to subsidising French farming, including vineyards. They like their high quality food and wine too much. What they don't realise is the subsidies they so enjoy, won't be so generous soon without muggins UK coughing up. Well, the French have always surrendered to the Germans....Ignored
DislikedThe French have once again provided how to resist nuttery. Viva La France! btw Jen, since this is obviously a winger thread and I am obviously liberal, thank you for not censoring free speech....so far. {quote} This is false. The French were overrun by the Germans, they never surrendered.Ignored

Disliked{quote} I made a pledge to you a while ago that I don't censor free speech. Why should I? I'm not a lib so have valid arguments instead. From what I understand, if every vote counted in your election, then you would have resisted nuttery too. Then that just leaves us as the true psychos. So be afraid, ha!
{image} The French will be overrun by the Germans again, then expect the Brits and the Yanks to bail them out, again. History has funny habits of repeating itself.

Disliked{quote} They Germans did invade, but when the French ran out of resources ... and the Brits had been pushed back across the channel by then .... the French government (Vichy) capitulated and adopted a collaborative approach. That saved quite a lot of French lives and in any case I think the Vichy government believed that the Germans would win. Luckily for us Hitler was asinine in some respects. If he had finished the job by pushing west before becoming distracted in Russia there would have been no launchpad for the Allied attack that began in 1944....Ignored
Disliked{quote} ......................... but this election result was clear rebuttal to Brexit I think.Ignored
Disliked{quote} Sadly, it's true. The Electoral College in the USA is a product of our original sin of slavery. It is still coming back to bite us to this day.Ignored
Disliked{quote} My thinking is that right wing governments have been surging. Brexit over there and Trump over here was the climax bar in this trend so to speak. If LePen had been elected, the EU is over I would think, so the French voted to retain the Union. Mind you, I am a Yank, and don't know the details over there.Ignored
Disliked{quote} There was nothing right wing about Brexit, the UK has a preference for democracy, you know, the kind where politicians can be hired and fired by the electorate based on their performance. Le Pen was perceived as too right wing and was rejected, but that does not translate into a vote of confidence for the EU. Simply a crap choice of candidates. The anti EU feeling is growing throughout Europe and by the time of the next French and Dutch elections, it will be at fever pitchIgnored
