If Kim Jong Un came to possess a nuclear weapon capable or intercontinental travel- who do you think would be most at risk? Keep in mind, KJU is North Korea, there are no checks and balances..

The answer, is anyone who disagrees with KJU. Not just the US. If you disagree with KJU, you die (and usually the US is blamed by KJU as a matter of convenience)

There is only one nation in the world that has openly threatened another nation with nuclear war since the 90's- and the nation doing the threatening has nothing to lose. North Korea is not a US failure, it is a world failure.

uj back to teasing 108.56 atm... its R here.. i use a different L roll than most.. most see it as a close below 108.56 today.. i see it at 108.73

He watched Khaddafi give up nukes. Then get pulled out of a ditch and skewered. I dont see him backing down. It cant end well. And telling China they really ought to do this or that about it is nothing new and no more productive a strategy than it ever has been. No easy answers. Except the easy one that comes with at least a few regrets.
I just wish someone could even act like they had a plan. Fake it til you make it only works if you dont wear it on your sleeve. Last guy in the white house treated it with the same dumbfounded look on his face this ones got.

I agree with you that he United State's wars have mostly been proxy wars, and unneeded wars at the expense of other nations. I don't agree with the war I served in. The thing is, at times war is necessary and you damn sure don't want to be on the wrong end of the wars that matter. Revolutionary war, WW2 to name a few. KJU is likely to be another.

My grandfather served under General Patton and my dad Vietnam. Political wars. All about money! Most wars are for this cause with twisted causes for the avg Joe that is to ignorant to see the forest from the trees.

In the 11th hour it'll come down to China's choice. They'll either have to flip on NK for a sweeter deal from the US or go to war with the most volatile nation in the world as their partner. They're the one's providing the nukes, no secret there.

My personal theory is that China is looking for the right deal to flip on NK, afterall- you don't side the with guy everyone in the playground hates. A NK that China can't control is useless to China, but using NK to do the dirty work and being the only nation with the key to their (easy) demise is a pretty sweet set up to negotiate with....

look at what china had trump do already.. remember all the china currency manipulation talk last year. china is playing trump like a fiddle, china is pulling the strings. Trump for better than a year has called out china.. "make america great" , bring manufacturing back home yada yada.. and now he has already sold u.s. workers out. he is willing to give out handjobs over N korea, to china.. china is the big winner. and they will string this along for as long as they can,,, years decades or more.. till kim #45 is born. he has GS deep in the cabinet. he screwed the working man for 40 yrs (he has screwed thousands of small businessman).. i doubt the election will change that

Im still trying to figure out what leverage the US thinks it has with China in these trade negotiations. When the white house says things like "Help us with NK and we will give you a good deal on trade" that sounds to me like the emptiest of threats mainly because China is not blind to the fact that the US economy (voter) is addicted to cheap Chinese goods. WW3 might not start by KJU's hand but it'll blow up right quick when the yellow dot sale is gone forever and the price of a "These Colors Dont Run!" 4XL camo tank top goes up 4X. And that the president is destined to end up a martyr for that cause when 2020 opposition throws around Reagans old saw "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago". Not saying the USA cant "win" a trade war with China (whatever that means) just that in the end theyll win it without whichever president started it. So it doesnt look like much carrot or much stick is in the white house toolbox heading into negotiation. Last time they met, Xi called Trump a weak politician looking to flex his muscles. Thats the words of a man with either a very good poker face or without much to fear.
I believe after all the big big talk, the giant trade deal will be just like the Carrier charade and will amount to a few concessions by China in the right direction to make DJT appear to have achieved something on the deficit (ie China will promise to buy a little more agricultural and other goods from the US) in exchange for some easing of regs that make Chinese investments in the US safer and easier. Thats it. No mention of NK whatsoever. Thats my guess.

That was it for the European session.... very little to track with only politics and twitter in control till French elections are cleared. Only highlight come from the Euro we have set the map for the french flows trade this weekend already so all cards on the table bar a last minute unexpected noise from politicians...

=> From a market/trading perspective the key issue is to highlight the difference between politics, risk and potential market reaction, instead of an actual real full blown risk on war/conflict. The latter will be sudden and strong and the big bastards will be caught with their pants down, while in the former, markets will hedge on/ or before the tweet and once its clear it will be business as usual ....

regarding NK
I see it as the world believes Kim to be a lunactic and aggressor, my question is

does Lunatic/ aggressor = leader that has attacked no one in comparison to the country that has
for 50 years had 40,000 troops on there border and crippled them with economic sanctions/ that starved 100,000s people.
threatened to invade / take out / wipe out every time they have a new leader.

does lunatic/ aggressor = someone that has had to build an army to defend against / or the illusion of defence , simply to stop
what it has seen for decades an aggressive foreign policy of a expanding economic empire that desperately
seeks a solid footing on the border of its economic equal. ( china will not give up its buffer zone as Russia didn't in Ukraine )

so is a lunatic simply someone that isn't a YES man/ push over / and wants to keep intact primarily himself and secondly his country that has every right to have been paranoid for the last 50 years .
another question , how many people have actually been to NK ? or is your view that of a mutli media effect of the last 50,40,30,20 years

the question isn't as simple as CNN or NCBC would have you believe.

add into the equation turkey. if a NATO member becomes a dictatorship, does NATO still fight for him?, to the point would a attack on turkey or turkey attacking another mean NATO comes to its side. go back through 10 yrs of post. several mentions of a time when NATO fights NATO. and or many countries getting together with a single currency getting along is a myth, its been tried before, the euro dollar isn't the first time. it was tried long before with gold and silver with a central bank in rome.

in a civil war in turkey who would NATO back? would it spread to other parts of europe? could the u.s. lose the ally and russia gain one..
