Hi, im confused is there 2 methods now to determine whether to put a long or short trade? First is from Bk8 the owner of this thread which uses the previous candle from 1D chart to determine whether to order a long or short trade and second is from blackeagle and other experts which we have to look at weekly chart, if the candle is below the SMA then put a short trade, vice versa. And can anyone provide me an example to know whether to order a long or short trade? I have seen many many examples and I still don't get it

For example, what if my previous candle is a bull candle but my SMA is going downward which trade should I use?
I have another question stated by Bk8:

  1. Long - SMA line in upward direction
  2. Short - SMA line in downward direction
  3. Ignore - Flat SMA line

Does it mean that as long the SMA line is going up, I can put a long trade? Or line must clearly cross the previous candle?

I hope that experts can guide me and other rookies along, sorry I'm very new to trading so I have to clear my doubts now, school starting soon I have to learn as fast as possible so, I can earn some allowance.

Go long when the daily candle has closed above the 5SMA AND the SMA is pointing upwards. ( ie. do not enter if hte sMA is still downwards). The best trades are after the market has reached the outer BB and has turned. Example on A/CHF http://prntscr.com/exabgv

Just closed the long position I opened 4/12 on AUD/USD this is the first position I took following this plan and it feels great to take a profit. Working on my self control to let things run for longer.

Yonnie's mention of AUDCAD setup seems good according to the rules and is well positioned rebounding from lower Bollinger band.as mentioned by Shimmering.
Nevertheless I will not take it because my favourite base system Ichimoku does not confirm the setup showing gains possibly capped around 1.0130 (Kijun Sen), Chikou Span below historic closes and Tenkan Sen having crossed below Kijun Sen on April 3rd delivering two bearish signals. A breakout of the cloud over 1.0150 would open the way for more upside.
By the way you can observe from the charts below that Bollinger middle band is pointing down and is around 1.0134 in close match with key level mentioned above.

A possible suggestion would be to add a rule to the system with Bk8's agreement (if he is still around...) which by the way is basic to Bollinger bands: look for a buy setup when price action is above the middle band (SMA20) and sell setup when below.
I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure...
