its an old ea, i made only a backtest, crashed account with default settings because booster is too high, booster 1 and 1.1 are fine

Does well with just strategy 2. Not the others.
am back to Dragon expert testing.
Anything Martingale will eventually eat your lunch.
No way of knowing when. But it ALWAYS does.

looking for 4 pips... only one really hair raising Martingale nail biter, in 5 years...
Looks like it was a $1300 draw down. Took the balance all the way back to the initial deposit. After two years of trades.
I just don't know if I'd have what it takes to ride something like that out. Knowing what I know about Martingale.

Oh. Let's see. It's a similar algorithm to the dragon expert. Wish there was a time filter. Maybe there is an ea somewhere that turns the expert function and off for time settings in mt4.

Not sure what this "booster" is but set at .5 it's very interesting.

oops Martingale strikes again

Here's an interesting setting where the ea trades more like sl, tp... with only a back up Martingale.... Could be big drawdown but it won't crash, I think...
Taking out for a spin from the year 2012 to present..
This is about 2 months 2012. $500/mo....hmmm. I could really use that.

Back to fishing big steps.
This is EUR USD with step set to 2000 (200 pips)
It brings in an average of 100 pips per month. with very little risk..
Set up o n 18 pairs with big steps... that's 1800 pips per month. at .1 that's $180 USD safe pips.
I can live with that.
Am noticing, this is the 1 min. prices hover at the same level with very little variation for quite some time usually.
the snapshot is seen with the chart compressed but still the variation is very little for days on end.
I am thinking how to utilize this with limit orders and a recovery trade if necessary set at the next big step.
For this perhaps the steps could be a little smaller.

Here's what happens. The prices do not vary much for long periods of time. Of course this is compressed... If it were expanded it would look like a lot was going on. But really the prices are just hovering.

Five years... 144 trades... only 6 were recovery trades. the return is very small. For initial deposit $100... it's $14 per year for .01.
times 18 pairs = $252/year for $1800. Or $21 month.
If only 2 were set to .1 that would bring in $280 per year for those two for $2000
leaving the 16 pairs at .01 and $1600 but It doesn't need to be $1600 for the remaining pairs they don't all trade at the same time... If 5 of them were open at the same time which is assuming a lot and they all were in recovery mode that would be $60 each worst case scenario... So $300 drawdown extreme case... $1000 for the remaining 16 pairs is way enough at .01
So equity would be $3000..
2 pairs set for .1 bringing in $23/month total for the two
16 pairs bringing in $16/month total for 16
$480/year for $3000 investment. $39/month
16% per annum.
Better than a hedge fund.
I have a sinking feeling that if and when I do actually come up with something they will crash the whole system and we'll all be reduced to barter and wampum. Ala Venezuela.

Looking for candidates for .1 NZDCAD is one..
Only 1 recovery trade in 5 years. $32 drawdown...For .1 it would be $320 drawdown on $1000 Starting equity.

Damn this is the kind of thing you'd be tempted to bet the farm on.. 3 years not even one recovery trade. No drawdown..
Just wait for it... and place a big position size...

EURAUD in 5 years 1 recovery trade... for .01 $56 drawdown. Otherwise no drawdown worth even mentioning.

Whoa... Just had an idea.
When setting up the fishing ea, it begins to measure the step from where it is set activated.
I want to test the ea at different points of activation.
For the big steps like 200 pips it might be possible to set up on the same pair but at different starting points and have similar results.
Which means it could increase the number of successful trades.
Okay that's the next testing to be done.

Very interesting. This is 5 years starting 2/1/12 to 1/31/17...
the ea calculates the steps from when it is activated.
The first test was from 1/1/12 to 12/31/16..
They are different step points... but the results are very similar.
That means it may be possible to set the ea up the first of every month separately on different charts with different magic numbers.
Instead of running on just one chart it would then running on two. Twice as many trades. Twice the gain. Same amount of risk per trade.
The next logical step is to test again starting 3/1/12 for five years.
Okay here is the test run starting 3/1/12 to to 2/28/17
They all have different starting points for calculating the big step and all take trades at different prices.
But they all have pretty much the same results. Fascinating. So the ea could be set up every month on a separate chart of the same pair with different magic numbers.
Evidently it wouldn't matter if even it was the first of each month or every day or every hour? Once the pair mioves the big step from wherever it started it carries through with the same results. Very interesting.
Now to test this other pairs.

OH OH.. that's not good. Running EURAUD for 2/1/12 to 1/31/17
It crashed. I've been using .01 for $100 equity.
the first test for EURAUD was very good a step of 300, it had only one recovery trade and brought in $70.
So that's over 2 trades a month.
But starting a month later... same parameters it crashed.
Will run it with $200 and .01... But over $100 drawdown is not very attractive.
Looks like if it is set for 300 pip step it needs to allow for $200 equity.
Whereas if it is set for 200 pips $100 equity is sufficient.
so far there have not been more than 2 recovery trades for any one position. in 25 tests of different pairs.
And those are rare.

Yes that is what it takes... for 300 pip step the account needs $200 min for .01.
Here are the tests for EURAUD
1/1/12 to 12/31/16
2/1/12 to 1/31/17
and
3/1/12 to 2/28/17 which is less than ideal....with a huge drawdown and the first 3 trade recovery for one position I've seen.
I'm going to put EURAUD on hold... I've only test EURUSD and EURAUD this way.
EURUSD tested out just fine. consistent. EURAUD not consistent. Maybe it is just EURAUD.
Let me see what happens with another pair.
Just thought of it. I should check for irregularities and gaps in the data around the time of that 3 trade recovery. And the other big drawdowns.
The record is gone. I'll have to run the tester again around that time to find the dates. No the record of trades is still there. I won't have to rerun it.
It wasn't a 3 trade recovery it was 4....

Gaps in data were found
Gap of 67s found between 2016 02 22 17 1702 and 2016 02 22 17 1816.
Gap of 62s found between 2016 02 24 16 1824 and 2016 02 24 16 1932.

Unfortunately that is not significant... and doesn't account for the 4 trade recovery...EURAUD remains on hold.

Really frustrating how the very very little errors and oversights are expensive.
The ea was set for gain .01 instead of .5. Must have been a little bleary eyed when setting it. .01 is for the position size.
So after waiting patiently for CADJPY to trigger it only took in $.04.

CADJPY another 4 recovery trade position.
I need to keep a record of when these are happening.
If they happen at different times margin is not a problem.
But if they are in response to the same event and happen across more than 1 pair at the dame time it could be a margin problem.
