Generally, I do not like to bet on the end of the world as you only get to be right once and it is hard to collect. But think this is a good explanation of how we have completely gone off the rails. I find ff to be symptomatic and reflective of the larger cultural problem.

Halloween’s coming super-early this year and it will be a shocking surprise to those currently busy looking for Russians behind every potted plant in Washington DC. First, accept the premise that your country has lost its mind.

This is what happens when societies (and individuals) can’t face the true quandaries of a particular moment in their history. All of their attention gets channeled into fantasy: spooks, sexual freakery, conspiracies, persecution narratives, savior fairy tales. It’s been quite a cavalcade of unreality for the past six months, with great entertainment value for connoisseurs of the bizarre — until you’re reminded that the fate of the nation is at stake.

The questions Americans might more profitably ask ourselves: can we continue living the way we do? And by what means? These matters of home economics have been sequestered in some forgotten storage unit of the collective mind for at least a year while a clock ticks in the time-bomb that sits on the national welcome mat. That bomb is made of financial plutonium and it’s getting ready to blow. When it does, all the distracting spookery and freakery will vaporize and the shell-shocked citizens will have a clear view of the bleak, toxic, devastated landscape they actually inhabit.

If for what ever reason the Fed move another .25 making it three more for the year that would put the Fed rate higher than Australia's cash rate. Personally I think it will be a lot harder for the RBA to raise rates but any more cuts seem out of the picture. Main driving factor for RBA to increase rates earlier is over inflated...

This is a great interview with Kylie Bass from last year. Great discussion about his positioning for his convictions, I feel a lot like Kylie Bass as he explains in this interview around 10.10 - 12.00 rational is a hard conviction these days because everything seems to be moving against it. Too much unknown intervention. I like his ideas on China as well.

Yeah I agree with Aussie and the possibility of your chart. Charts still saying no for sell at the moment but will see. Wouldn't be surprised to see it hit 80, Ive had that area marked prior to Fed and Trumponics. Im watching lower down to see what happens next week. I was surprised when the spike didn't get retraced on those shitty job numbers and took a small lose on Friday. Somethings wrong with that and someone!!!!!! is selling the USD but eventually I think we will see that spike being filled.

This of course is the one most people know and was big success in UK. Suppose this is sad version, all in how you interpret it I guess. I find it insightful and hopeful....Figure better to be human dissatisfied than pig satisfied, but then maybe I am just a fool looking for meaning in the syrupy self indulgent decade of me and consumption pop songs...

Really great writing, figure you would appreciate it. Think he has nailed the larger historical and cultural symptoms that seem to dominate the news and markets these days. Not sure about all the rest but....

I say only because I was sceptical that we got the Brexit and now all the dithering. Create a mess and they then can say well you had it your way now look what's happened. Scott, I used to read constantly. Have even read Atlas Shrugged (my favorite) 3 times. Bout 78, I read a book that predicted we would all be killing each other for food in the 90's and civilization would have ended. It was well written and really worried me at the time. Can not remember the authors name to save my life. Back bout 72-73 we had couple of really cold winters. All the "brilliant minds" were telling us we were entering a new ice age and that because the polar caps would be thickening ports such as Savannah would end up miles from the coast.
