Version 18 update.

Folks: From now on I am going to post the new updated on my website.
This way when it is deemed that the update is stable Forexpinbar can place the copy in page1. Just as he has right now version 14 being the stable version.
So version 18 is the beta version and will be called this until we all agree that it works. Once that is done then Forexpinbar can go to my site and upload the version to pg1 of this thread.

I will explain in the next post the fixes and the updated.

I placed a file with my email address. So now, I recommend that you email me with any observations/suggestions/issues etc. This way the thread will less cluttered with our debbuging.

Version 18 tests/fixes/updates.

1. The brokerCloseHour worked, it closed all opened trades at about 20 minutes before the close of market. I see one of you didn't see it work in the version you have. Check this. 1st make sure that the GMThour is correct for your broker. See if the difference on the display is correct. Next look and see when your broker's hour stopped. That hour should be equal to about 21:59 GMT or something close to that. Let me know if what you found out.

2. Added Max/Min PipCount to display and a log file that will record each hour the pip total of basket. It also contains the max and min so that we can detect when they happened. The data is setup raw. I didn't do anything fancy. So those that know how to handle excel you just need to select your ranges etc etc.
A new Logfile is recorded for each week. Take care of this, cause you can end up with ALOT of Files. When you are done or don't need it just set the input Log_MaxMin_PipCount to false. LOGFILE will be located in the MQL4/Files folder

3. Added the SetLockProfit information to the display. I also tested this and it works. The display shows you where the basket profit is locked and the next pip level when the lock will be updated.

4. Re-labeled the global variables. I did this so that if you had any other variables these could be distinguished. This is mainly for those that will be testing the EA.
So before you test first unload the EA then hit F3 (or go to Tools==>Global Variables) and delete all of the globals that start with "xm7". Delete any old ones if u still have them too. Then start up the EA again. You should be set to testing anything you need to test.

5. Reinstated the Profit Lock for individual trades. Now the EA will also monitor each trade and set profit lock target for each open trade. Even though u will see the SetLockProfit status on the display, that will not affect the individual trades. The EA monitors each profit lock status for each trade individually.
I did no have time to test, I will try to test it next week. If you see that it does not work just set the input StartProfitLockAt=0.

Report on my basket progress.

I used Talinex. The total profit for the week was over 21%. I think I started it like 3 times during the week. I don't remember.
The first basket was started late. Monday 1 pm GMT I think. That basket closed on Wednesday for 500 pips. The second basket was started after like several hours.
That basket was negative most of the time till today. This basket was closed by the EA 20 minutes before the close of the market.

Started with $2000 and used 0.1 and 0.2 lots per basket attempt.

Will the EA start the trades monday at the set hour or we have to manually start them?
Thanks! With Your improvement we can test the strategi. I will use Tallinex for my testing and compare with Fxcm and Ic. If there are difference I wil use a trade copier, have done so before.

The EA was tested with several day/hour settings and it started based on the day and the GMTOPenHour inputs.
So if you have yours set to default it will start on Monday at 00:00 GMT to open the trades that the CCFP diff indicator calls out.
If not please let me know.

I would be sort of like backward testing except you wouldn't necessarily use the MT4 strategy tester. It's sort of like what was done on the basket thread, I forget the name of the thread. They use an offline chart to generate a chart that contains several pairs all summed together. In our case I would create offline charts of each pair.
Then an EA would pick each individual pair and create the profit/loss status for each. It can be done it just takes some planning. I'll mess around and see if I can create it. LAter thought right now first thing first... get this EA working 100%

I am very familiar with the SSBO method. I even created an EA that will trade the system some time ago. It's slow LOL but I think if I were to look at it today I know I could make it alot faster LOL.

Anyhow, yes I see what you want todo. This would provide useful information. Let me brainstorm.. see if I can come up with something quick.... I'll let you know.

The real question is this:
What is the probability of you having 5 straight -3% losing weeks?
What is the probability of getting %7or more wins per week?

What I am getting at is this. Lets take your example. I am going to say that the weeks you got drawdown that you closed the basket at -200 pips ( at 2% per 100 pips that is a -4% loss) and that week you didn't see a drawdown that it was a winner.

Week 1 you said u had drawdown so you closed it at -200 pips (-4% loss)
Week 2: you said got +800 pips with no drawdown (+15% profit)
Week 3: You mention you got a drawdown so lets say you closed at a loss -200 pips (-4%)

You did very well in 3 weeks. The account is more about 7% in profit.

So the question going forward is how many times do we see a LOSS and how many times do we see a WINNER given that basket is closed for a -200 pip stop and when it is greater than say 700 pips it is closed?

IF we get the probability of these situations then we can go forward into the future with knowledge and be confident that the approach will make profit.

IF you look at my post where I post the Equity Curve. I will be recording these patterns to generate data that I can use to calculate prob stats.
I would like to especially see the BAD weeks, those interest me ALOT more than the winners. If I can determine statistically where to get out in a BAD week, the winning weeks are EASSSYYY. So more important then MM is how to handle the real BAD weeks. When you can get out of a BAD week with a 1-2% loss and know that you will be making 4-7% each winning week you are ok..

Hi Xmess7,

My question is a simple one I think, when the EA is started on Monday and it initializes the pairs shown in the indicator at the startup, this is usually different to what is showing on the indicator at London open, does the EA actually open positions for what was initially shown at startup or the positions shown on the ccfp at time trades are placed.

Hi FXPB,

Considering strategies, I have just started to test the EA and method, and I agree that the basket stop is probably too tight. With that in mind, one method I have always liked to use is to look back at a most recent fractal. For instance if we consider using the daily chart and then set the stop at the most recent fractal high/low per pair then we may well have a basket that has a stop loss at 1200-1600 pips. so lot sizing is crucial of course. Bear in mind the most recent fractal on a daily chart will be from the previous weeks trading so we may have a high/low for the week (depending on when the fractal appeared of course). The other side of this is where we set our TP I like to try for a minimum of 1:1 RR and preferable 1:2.

The only problem with the fractal stop method is that you can't place a per symbol level for SL /TP only an average one. This number varies dramatically based on the pairs of course. The solution for me was to use the dashboard to enter the trades manually to get my individual settings at this time and then to place an "average" number in the EA). I will report on success or otherwise as we go forward.

The next thing I have explored is using the MTF version of the CCfp to filter some of the trades out. I am using the daily and weekly to give a direction and I cannot state whether that is good or bad yet (I am testing both strategies).

Something else to consider would be to look at the trade opening time of around 15-20 minutes after the open to get a direction as this will have allowed the markets to get through the opening gambit for the weeks start.

Whatever the ccfp suggests at the moment the EA is loaded is what is traded. So if u load yer EA on monday but set yer day and hour later in the week then the pairs that appeared on monday are traded. But if u reload the Ea then whatever the ccfp had at that moment will be traded. Got it?? lol

Just have a thought - can we have a daily mode in this ea?
currently we start trading on monday and keep that cycle for a week.
Can we have a setting, say everyday, 8AM, we start to trade and close that end of day - so hopefully, we will have more trades.
what does that sound? ;-)
