Without news you would have no volatilty. 100 pip move in a day? Forget about it. The range would probably be from 10-15 pips for each day, making it untrade-able. So be thankful for news, because without them there would be no market. I am not 100% sure this wasn't a news driven move either.

Right all the brokerages turn off your squawk feeds and stop listening to the news and we'll see if the waves flatten out like you say, easy to prove that. Every one turn off the news and see if the market changes in nature....
