Quoting girdle66DislikedPrices are actually pulled from sites on the internet (with redundancy.) If we fail to get a rate from the first priority site, we try the second, and so on. I think I have three sites configured in my database currently.
The price values are stored in the historical tables. The column structure for the history table is: User, Currency, Position, OpenValue, CloseValue, DateOpened, DateClosed.
So yeah, we could compile historic data from it. What did you have in mind?Ignored
Quoting PeterFMDislikedHi girdle
Have I missed something, or is this another program?
Been through the thread at least twice but can't see were this new stuff is mentioned. Or have you & bemac got a development going on in the background?

Quoting girdle66DislikedIn my initial post I mention that the software is available at my site http://www.ForexTradingStats.com. You're not the first person to ask, so I apologize for not being more clear.
The site is real barebones right now, just a quick something I spit out in notepad. i'll probably beef it up later.Ignored
Quoting PeterFMDislikedI had D/L the program already, but forgot that when you enter your trade it logs a price. I had a Homer moment, put it down to an age thing

Quoting miscon777DislikedJust another two cents to say I think this is an absolutely brilliant idea. I think of it as the potential 'napster' of FX trading - direct peer-to-peer information and data.
Imagine if enough users got on the same page via this tool... is there not a potential for a decentralized network of individual small-lot traders to actually move markets the way institutions do?
Or is that just insane?
In any case, great work... I'll endevour to get my own trades logged as often as possible - not that their going to help anyone, but what the hell!

Quoting girdle66DislikedHey all-
This is just a continuation of the Helpful New Tool thread (http://www.forexfactory.com/forexfor...read.php?92091) Miscon created such a great slogan I just had to start over with a new title!
Feel free to read through the previous thread. But for those who prefer the abbreviated version (traders are lazy by nature), here you go:
I developed a tool for streamlining communications and trade activity between traders. We've had close to 50 people from this community signup over the past couple of days, and I would like for that to continue to grow. This tool essentially does for Forex what Napster did for file sharing: it allows us as traders to easily post our trade activity to the rest of the community as well as quickly view what trades everybody else is doing. I have posted the installation file for download at http://www.ForexTradingStats.com (the site's ugly right now, I may make it pretty sometime later.)
Current functionality includes:
Alerting - Configure and receive alerts based on the trading activity of the community. Alerts can be receive on your desktop and/or via email
Channels - Link together traders who use the same trading strategy. Currently we have News Release Traders, Scalpers, Vegas Traders, Price Action, Breakout Traders, Crossover Traders, and growing... Post here with any new channels you want created.
In the next release I plan on including channel chat room functionality and perhaps single click integration for MetaTrader and weighted trades (successful traders activity will receive higher priority than unsuccessful.)
Anywho, let's continue the discussion in here. Give me feedback and suggestions, they're always appreciated!Ignored
Quoting Mr TrendDislikedHow do I know this isn't a backdoor? Virii activity can probably be ruled out, but then again, if you're doing something crafty, none of the agents out there are going to pick it up anyway.
I think I'll let the community play a bit for awhile with this one before I put it on my station...
Sorry... I'm paid in real life to be paranoid... just how it is.Ignored

Quoting girdle66DislikedPeter,
I appreciate your appreciation. I know you weren't complaining, and I understand what you're saying. I went down the same thought process myself during development. But from a development perpective the word "probably" always raises a red flag.
Let's say that you wanted to be alerted when 60% of traders agreed in EUR/USD, but you also wanted to be alerted when 85% of traders agreed in a less common currency pair (AUD/USD.) If you set the EUR/USD value after the AUD/USD, it's not safe to assume that you want the 60% value to overwrite the 85% value. And if there's no alert value set on a currency pair, then it's even more assumptuous for the program to automatically create one just because you entered a value for EUR/USD. Does that make sense?
I see what you're saying, it's kind of a pain to set them all up individually. Another user commented on that eariler as well. But I don't see a better way to do it that gives the end user full granularity and control.
I'm definitely open to suggestions though. Let me know if you have any.Ignored
Quoting girdle66DislikedOr, if it would make you feel better, go to my msn site and look at my family pics. (http://girdle66.spaces.live.com) At least then you'd have an idea of who to hunt down! :Ignored
Quoting smjonesDislikedEasy, Easy...
This appears to be sincere. lets not have a lynching.
I understand the need for security. but also this appears to have been offered with good intentions.
Yes, beware. but lets not jump to conclusions about the author...
Maybe with some brainstorming a solution can be reached...Ignored
Quoting Mr TrendDislikedHeh. No one's upset or anything. It's just how it is.
Trust me, I do this for a living. I educate people on Information Security... I've been doing it for years. This type thing happens ALL the time.
All I'm doing is raising awareness. That's all I can do. Heck, I think the guy's idea is fantastic... I hope he ends up being a rockstar from it (BTW, can we get a chat room module on that badboy?!) , but at the end of the day, it's your financial income... your business.
It's kinda like opening your store one day, and some guy walks in and says, "Hey, I can make your computer run faster and your orders process faster if you install the program..."
Would you let him do it? Of course you wouldn't.
Same thing here... thing is, that people get complacent. They don't think that it could happen to me.
It does.Ignored
