I had bought at 10,660 and set another buy order at 10,630. I got on the plane which was ready for takeoff and decided to have a quick look. I was deep in the red when the DAX was reading 10,600. I thought to myself this is a no brainer to buy this dip. Bought more, set a new stop loss and set a new sell order at 10,700. 3 hours into the flight I decided to pay the $20 for wifi to see where this MTF went. Position was closed at 10,700 and I had a nice green balance

I have been around the block for 15 years now and only today came across what you describe here as "overlapping candles" - I may have a completely different understanding of what you mean by overlapping candles, so would you mind, just in short, explaining to me how to duplicate what you meant by that, plse?

Hi Hercs

"Smaller" price movements
The OCC (Overlapping Candle Concept) checks candles against each other at the same timeframe and/or at different time frames (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly).

Let give you an example at weekly chart (further down). Normally I compare several candles together e.g. 1 > 4, whereat "I" is then the Indexcandle.

Another subtopic
All know that the market is crazy and big capital want your money and so sudden bigger price movements take regularly place (the eternal recurrence of the same, Nietzsche ), compare Index A & Index B, please.

By reference to these recognition patterns I can extrapolate some expectation about my future forex actions in order- & moneymanagement and risk-tolerance.

Anyplace, say somewhere and somewhen especially when the market is in a consolidating phase you could detect the most frequent biggest overlapping areas. In these last-named market environment I can even increase my risk tolerance as a matter of fact.

Followup
The most interesting analyses did you get by comparing H4, daily, weekly or daily, weekly & monthly timeframes in their OCC-Algorithm together.

You could flush out many times more examples what was I taking about in the same chart below (e.g. #28'188).

To let the market its breath
One great advantage for me is that the OCC-Concept could define extremely variable and the "market's breath" is appropriately taken into consideration.
It means in effect that orders in red could turn a few days after into the profit zone.

my actual viewpoint
...but weekly could go further up ~10'790 & in case of an weekly outbreak (see #28'193, please), maybe > ~11'380,
...& if so then the daily will be old news.

Thank you for the explanation, which I really appreciate. I will see if I can find the same as you as it is not "an ah ha moment" just yet. May I ask again once I had looked at it plse?

Asian Indexes did well so I reckon US Indexes will also do well. European Indexes will piggyback ride along US stock indexes as usual

Although daily has opened above 10.720 levels it hasn't closed yet.. therefore my "I will buy every retest attempt towards 10.650" approach is still valid.. I am waiting for a possible gap close and even a deeper correction since we also might see a deeper correction towards fib 78.6 --> 10.626 area on H1 chart..

Short and simple: I don't want to buy yet. I will wait for a gap close and retest of previous lows..

Last Months the 800/825 tested but no break out above.

Opec meeting next Week Wed. They talked up the oil so far. Agreement next Week productuion cut?
Too many oil countries outside the OPEC can't afford an oil cut production. Their economy could colapse.
Market believes it will happen it looks. But they believed that all the other times as well, but there came no agreement and price dropped again.

don't you think a break of 10650 on the downside would invalidate the sideways range it has been 10650-10760-10800 ?
