I feel like for these sorts of situations by holding onto these positions we are taking a gamble hoping that the trade will go our way.

This kind of goes against our rule for no sideways entry. In theory anyone who didn't take the trade initially could have jumped in at any point during the last few days and still be in the same position we are for holding onto the initial trade. No?
So many in the Commercial section want to make me rich! :o

Nice one for how long will you let it ride? Why not put stop loss on previous candle?

Nope, There are 2 scenarios

1.exit on breakeven if setup goes agsinst you and reverse
2. wait until SL triggers

I use rule#2

#1.Most people follow patience while taking profit impatient for loss..
#2.Some follow, once you decide Profit and SL, stick to it.

I like to follow best of above 2 i.e. once you decide SL and Tp, stick to it and be patient for taking profit on second position of your stategy. Simple?

EA is a very nice beautiful trade! I closed out both positions. The 2nd position has moved 3 candles if you count today's candle that is still open. Also, price has hit TL and S/D area and we have red news out today so I decided to close the trade.

Yes, per BK8's rules, we could hold forever until SL hit, but okay to get out after 3 strong candle moves too! Price has hit the exact zone that I was looking at when I opened the trade. No need to give back pips!

Thanks for the explanation and in your case you stick to rule 2.
What is your policy on the amount of profit you take on the first part of your trade?

Last time I suggested that scenario a couple days ago I got my face slapped.
