The Bank of England did not answer - all silent for the ECB. Not expected to change interest rates. The first meeting after Brexit Bank will be used by the regulator of markets and to refine its course. Probably, more attention will be given to the press conference, Mario Draghi, to be held after the publication of the decision (after 45 minutes). Volatility can be, as in the first and in the second case.

Hello, great thread.

I love trading the news and enterring minutes before an announcement.
How do you guys deal with the volatility? sometimes the volatility is as big as 10 pips seconds before the announcement. Have you found hedging to be successful?

Hey Hmsr

I hedge the news, I think it is pretty hard to try and guess which direction the news spike is going to go, so I hedge trade only the very large news releases. I enter about 30 sec prior to the news in both direction and then use an EA to set my TP, SL and a BE. I only turn on my EA a couple of seconds before the news. If one position hits the SL the other one will automatically place a break even. I also will sometimes sell a portion of my positions to cover my SL so the rest of my positions are basically a free trade.

Has worked for me for the past 6 months but you are limited with the strategy as you need a move of above 55 pips to make it worth while, otherwise your risk to reward is all out of proportion. If you also set the EA wrong or your stop loss too tight you will take the whole spike while the take profit will still be executed. OUCH!
