Hello all FF members old and new.

I am just laying the groundwork here for a new thread.

At the moment, I don't have too much to say, besides, for day traders, fundamental traders, and the EXTREMELY tech based traders,

NEWS IS IMPORTANT. It is when you have enough experience one of the most rewarding and profitable ways to trade commodities and FX.

Consider researching a release, looking at forecasts, positioning accordingly, stacking some decent lots and being DONE or daily Quota met within an

HOUR or sometimes 10 minutes of actual trading. Then your day is free and away from the screen.

Yet, from my experience to do this EFFECTIVELY you pay your dues by -
READING,
Learning,
Testing,
Then LIVE EXECUTION, with stops and Limits placed.

Right now we are winding down the year and quarter. HOWEVER, there are still releases and the ever existing matter of the US FED "tapering" off massive QE THREE,
which will shake the market for a day or longer.

RULES:
RESPECT THY FELLOW TRADER
DON'T post nonsense.
Have some backup - ie: a release and your thoughts on why you are speculating in one direction or not.

People that want to disrupt and spam the thread or FIGHT with others will be instantly revoked for over a month or permanently depending on the situation without any warning. Due to the fact that I am not a babysitter and NOR should anyone here have to be.

I cannot promise daily posts, yet, I can offer my experience, some LIVE positioning prior to release and desired outcome, as well as after thoughts on
SUCCESS or FAILURE.

No one has to try and "get credit" from others saying things like "I told you so" or "I was right" in panning for gold this is called a "flash in the pan."
want credibility, announce your thoughts, and provide the result - WIN OR LOSE.
This is a ZERO SUM GAME.

The first release I hope to tackle here will be tomorrows CPI (US).

I am first and foremost a Gold and Silver trader, Yet also trade FX.

Pairs I would prefer to discuss are majors.
E/U G/U U/J U/C EQUALLY to AUSSIE, KIWI and Loonie (obviously) gold and silver as well.
YET, if you have some pertinent trades on any minor or even EXXXOTIC please do share.

Just thought a new thread would be nice to have.

I wanted to set a voucher limit but don't see that that is an option for now.

Any FUNDAMENTAL discussion at any time is welcome.

I actually at this point spend MINIMAL time physically trading,
I don't use ANY EAs and will likely never.

I AM ALWAYS UP on the current ECONOMIC CALENDAR.
MY PREP is over the weekend and the prior week,
I read a S#!T load of news,
I look at prior forecasts,
I look at prior health of the economy in which I may be trading.
I read and read.

This takes the time.

HOURS,

the setup is simple, I look for a fill in a "congested" area which I will explain later,
I am not cheap,
I am not greedy,
I look to get filled.

On regular trades my Risk reward or RR is 1:2 or 1:3.

On NEWS TRADING I want ONE TO FIVE.

Meaning if I risk 1 lot - any size - I expect 5 less the one for entry, so 4 lots profit.
That is my tech system.

As far as news and opinions go I take EVERYTHING I read with "TWO GRAINS OF SALT"

I try to only read from sources I trust that have a history of BEING RIGHT.

I have no time for opinions from asshole$ because? every one has one.

I will be doing some live news trading in here. So subscribe if you like or just stop by.

Thanks for the question, If I have not completed it in a sense that makes sense, let me know,

After,
The reading I form my own assessment and trade accordingly.

Sometimes I use my 'gut' instinct.

Otherwise I manage the risk and trade in my direction.

Managing risk accordingly allows me to fight another day / trade/
should the market have an ADVERSE reaction to the news. (which is often especially in low volume GOLD)

Trading NEWS blind is like going to an ORGY without any condoms, you need to be prepared otherwise the market may give you the DIS - EASE of FAILURE.

My area of setup is already planned hours before depending on price action I adjust accordingly.

I love 100 pip swings and 50 USD moves on GOLD.

To setup the actual trade takes seconds.

Guys and Gals,

The most rewarding part of trading news is BEING POSITIONED RIGHT and STACKING.

YOU - yes - YOU can OFFICIALLY cancel a WEEKS worth of TRADING on ONE GREAT NEWS TRADE.!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a position trader, yet I trade the market and what it offers to me,
thus, I am ALWAYS abreast on NEWS and FUNDAMENTALS,
this ONLY gives me a larger EDGE,

And - there are ways to CUT RISK and MAXIMIZE PROFITS,

I just created a new demo with netdania with 2000.oo OR 2k USD in it for the sole purpose of posting all the trades and setups here on the forum,
I want to make a trade explorer, YET - HATE or DESPISE metatrader, largest scam since - or before bernie MADE_off.

However- if people here want to see me trade BRICKS or TEN STANDARDS with a demo - I WILL MAKE ONE,
soo, just leave comments below,
THANKS,
XT

Unfortunately news trading is not what it used to be almost 10 years ago. Back then some brokers were filling the orders with no slippage. Now the slippage could be huuuuge and there is no way to know your R/R in advance. Most central banks have 0 interest rates and the price is not reacting after most of the news releases. Even NFP is not able to move the price susbstantially. To trade news releases with spot positions is closer to gambling. If you do it, use options.

YES, Sir, these are problems and best dealt with by trading with brokers that will FILL,

YET - HERE is exactly the reason to have ONE MARKET MAKER "PURE" market maker broker,

Because they "usually" always fill, any time, market orders are best.

It is in their best interest that you LOSE. Thus, any trade you take, unless you are stacking bricks they will fill within about 10 - 20 pips.

So if cable moves 200 PIPS on a GREAT news day, then, you lose even 50 on the fill you still made 150 PIPs.

I apologize for not updating here today live, but have done so on my other thread, mainly because my main concern was how the FOMC would immediately affect gold.

For anyone who is interested my posts are here from before and after the announcement.

Being that it is almost 2014 news can have adverse reactions due to

1. Lower volume
2. Large caps pushing the market around
3. certain aspects already being well priced into the market - again as people position for exit 2013 and entry 2014.

1:12 PM EST or "New York Time"

multiple in-between

Wrap up

Good summary. If not the slippage, it would be off quote (no fill). Been there done that.
Also info from this thread revealed that some brokers won't pay you for your profit because trades were held too short. Reputable brokers may be different.
