I really want to get bloomberg or rueters. That kind of check is hard to swallow, But I have found a free service that beats many of the cheaper news providers. They always beat the TV guys. However they are U.S. market timeslot only.

I tried newsstrike.com Waited for a long time just to get a password from them. Downloaded the communications software. Still waiting for them to deliver news fast enough to beat bloomberg and CNBC. The delay was so bad that information comes 2-3 minutes after the trade.

Wow ngdaniel,

That is bizarre. I have had them about 2 1/2 weeks and I can sometimes beat the spike!!! Why would your experience be so different than mine? We must investigate this. Does your Newsstrike say Teamspeak at the top when you bring it up?

I've been using Newsstrike for awhile now and I would say they're "pretty much" on the spot in announcing the news...This is based on my experience observing the spike and their actual announcement. Can't really compare with other news service since I don't have any subscription...

they look like a tradethenews type company, where their main focus is the stock market. tradethenews at least has global coverage. ive used them and highly recommend if you can afford the 2k per month.
Relax and be happy.

2K monthly for TradeTheNews? or 130 per month?

I closed my TradeTheNews account last week. I was frustrated the past few weeks as brokers kept cheating me and to cover some losses, I terminated by TTN subscription. TTN was a victim of circumstances - not of poor service.

Besides, I could not enter the market based on TTN's signal - either I am not fast to click the BUY/SELL or straddling was more effective. I am not gifted with fast hand-ear-eye coordination to place the correct order in a short 0.5 seconds time.

Perhaps, once I regain the winning composure, I'd subscribe once again.

It does say Teamspeak. The website should also be teamspeak.org.

hey merlin,

sorry for the semi off topic post, but i just wanted to ask you about TTN's equity news services. i think (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) the main benefit for daytraders using this service would be knowing which stocks are "in play" for the day, i.e. gapping up/down on earnings/guidance/lawsuits etc, then making the day's game plan based on this information. However, this information seems to be available on sites like finance.yahoo.com for free. My question is, what's the "value-added" of using something like TTN? Do they actually give trading calls i.e buy TRAD on open because earnings came in 2 cents above analyst estimates? Do you get equity news ahead of time i.e. before the gap ups? I'm looking to build a news trading strategy on equities and any helpful hints would be much appreciated. if you want you can email me at [email protected]. thanks in advance!

by the way, I also get free briefing.com analysis with my etrade account, is that in any way comparable to TTN? thanks again!

Merlin, retail users can get TTN for under $200/month. The sqwauk lines and multiple portals that your company uses are probably the reasons for the price difference. This or the service is actually different. If you have 2k a month to spend on news go straight to Bloomberg.

briefing.com is the leader in reporting upgrades and downgrades. These reports can often create 5-10% moves in stocks. If reported in the middle of the day, and you get the news first... you can make decent cash.

Does anyone use Oanda's news service? It's free and pretty quick, as far as I can see. Don't know how it compares with Bloomberg though...

Correction to my last post: the number should be 180 instead of 130. 8 and 3 were mixed up. 180 is a round up figure of 174.99 covering Credit/FX + audio Feed.

You were referring to TradeTheNews right? And not Bloomberg or Reuters..

yeah i just realized the 2k is for "Equity Audio", see the bottom choice where it says "check this box and a sales person will contact you"? that means its very expensive LOL

thanks for the info, stock

do you have experience using both TTN Equities and Briefing.com then? I am having quite a bit of trouble deciding between the 2. Merlin, any thoughts? You mentioned that you thought TTN was the best for equities in another thread, any particular reason why?

Newsstrike beat the spike today on the PPI. They said the core before the move started. But, these multi news releases are a problem for verbally delivered news. Today was the perfect example. He said the core PPI before the spike but we also had housing starts and building permits. By the time he said the core MOM, then the YOY, the builing permits and housing starts it had gone 30 pips. Just so much information to verbalize. If you are basing your decision on just one number, no problem. But 2 or 3 and he can't spit it out fast enough.
