Hello everyone. Since I cannot start a new thread yet and since I'm very interested in trading the news, maybe some of you could answer some basic questions that I have about news trading. Or maybe they're not that basic. Anyway, here they are.

1. Are spread and slippage related to each other? Because I've noticed a lot of people are saying that you often times get slipped during important news release when volatility is high. So my question would be, if the spread jumps to let's say 10 when the main impulse candle shows up, it means my order will get executed 10 pips above or below market price, right? I mean, it's not like if the spread is 10, I wil get slipped 20 or even more? It wouldn't make any sense.

2. How would you compare normal order and stop-loss slippage during the news? Are they the same? If we get slipped 10 pips when we buy and if the price goes against us, does it mean our stop will also get slipped by 10 pips? In my opinion, stop-loss slippage shouldn't be very severe or even more than normal order. At least I think so. Because as far as I know, we get slipped and spread increases because of low liquidity if we try to go with the market when news hit. But if we place for example EUR/USD sell order but the price goes up and our stop is hit, it means we're selling to someone. And since everyone is trying to go with the market on the news and a lot of people are placing buy orders, our stop shouldn't be slipped because again, since so many people are buying, my stop-loss order, if hit, sells to them. It's like I'm providing liquidity with my stop-loss order.

Anyways, can anyone add up? Or correct me? Am I missing something? Or maybe I am correct?

1. On the first question you answered yourself.
2.Stop orders are not suitable in the news trade.
The best approach is to market execution.

Hi, not sure if I got this info right or wrong. I once heard slippage is not only due to widen spread but also related to brokers that 'shut down' their server for a split second to avoid some price level entries being triggered.

IMPORTANT - Inconsistency FORECASTS extraordinary TRADES (as warned earlier)
At the moment, we see that the major news agencies show the uncertainty and inconsistency in the projections. This means that the weight of the forecasts was divided almost half, "half of the rate cut, half against." This means that the market is in an indeterminate state.
More weight is of the opinion "rate will remain unchanged" at the level of 2.25%, a slight overweight. Volatility probably will anyway. Triggers set so that the signal will in any case, a closer interface avtoklika, look carefully to the triggers.
- If rate will remain unchanged 2.25%, and the deviation from the forecast in this case, 0% - this is a buy signal B1 (which corresponds to the "greedy").
- If the reduced rate (2.0% deviation of -0.25%) - on the sale of S3
- If rate will increase (which is ridiculous) - B3 to buy
In our interest, in spite of a couple, it would be fun to see the fall.
Note that the inconsistency in the projections - it is always an increased risk!

Thank you everyone for the replies. One more question. I see some of you tried to trade NZN official cash rate. For the very first time I tried trading the news with the real money myself and just before the news, the whole platform froze for good 5 minutes. I tried to place a trade couple minutes before the release but the broker didn't let me. Anyone of you experienced anything similar? I also noticed that the spread with the GBP/NZD was 3 times higher than other brokers that I was closely paying attention on the release on myfxbook. And the broker itself claims to be ECN. I find this a joke. Should I dump this broker immediately?

It freezes when the platform is necessary to remove all the excess from the chart.
Spread Expands any broker, on the exotic pairs (GBPNZD: GBPAUD) just need to be ready for this.

Thanks. One more thing. When the news hit the market, there was a huge gap between the candles. I don't think it's normal since I didn't see any gap on your posted screenshot. Is this MT4 or brokers fault?

This is called gap.
This happens when the demand for purchase anymore, there is only sale.
Especially well LRA seen in promotions, but forex is shown.
It can be often seen on the DAX.
And not only to observe but also to trade if you know how to do it.
