Hi Ned,

Is it possible you are misinterpreting where the decimal point is on those spreads? Perhaps what you saw was 1.30 points.

Right now, I'm looking at the GER30 (DAX) price on both MT4 and Trading Station and the spreads are identical at 0.90 points.

Note that MT4 counts the last digit in the index price as a full point instead of 0.01 points.

How close are you setting your stop order (SL) to the current market price? I'm wondering if you might be getting an error for trying to set a stop closer than the spread on GER30.

I use EA on Fxcm which places orders with price to open plus SL and Tp in one step with no problems in general. Also trail stop adjustments in 1point (0.1pip) work pretty good in my experience

Thanks for the respond, but I think today the problems are even worst.
I don't have any ask line at all, even that i have checked the box for ask line, the price which i see in Market Watch is totally different.
May be its a technical problem on my account.

The problem is solved.
Just too many symbols in market watch was the problem.
Once I hide them all, now its Ok.

Thank you for sharing this update, Ned. I'm glad you found this solution.

To clarify for everyone else, Ned had more than 40 symbols showing in his Market Watch window on MT4. To optimize performance on the platform, only 40 symbols can receive live price updates at a time. When Ned reduced the symbols showing in his Market Watch window to the 40 symbols for which he wanted to receive live price updates, that resolved the issue he described in his earlier post: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...25#post8878425

Is it possible to have a USD demo account with same spread as a USD standardacc? The demo i use now have 4-5 pips spread on GJ, guess its the same as a mini.
If not, is EUR based demo same spread as standard acc?

Hi Elovv,

If you are using Trading Station, then the spreads you see on your charts will depend on your account type: Mini or Standard.

If you are using MT4, then the spreads you see on your charts will depend on the MT4 server to which you are connected.

Currently, the charts on all our USD-denominated MT4 demo servers reflect the all-inclusive Mini account spreads.

The charts on EUR-denominated MT4 demo server "FXCM-EURDemo01" reflect the raw FX spreads for Standard accounts.

Please confirm you are logged into the correct MT4 server.

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) published a report on Thursday, according to which registered brokerages’ combined client obligations data decreased significantly both MoM and YoY, by 8.2% and 12.2% respectively.

In this context US forex broker FXCM did well, as according to the report its total retail forex client deposits are again the highest among all six US retail FX brokers, amounting to more than $176.5 million in January 2016.

Furthermore, CFTCs report reveals that FXCMs adjusted net capital amounted to $61.1 million at the end of January, exceeding the required capital of $20 million by nearly $31.3 million.

When calculation win (profit) on Mt4, does it take notice of swap and commission?
Some brookers have it in the same line.
Hey, I'm a complete newbie to this whole world of forex trading, but I'm really serious about getting into it and making some profit with it. I wanted to know, is FXCM a good broker? Like, is there any history or very real threat of scamming? I've seen a lot of comments around the web about how Roboforex clients have serious problems with withdrawing the profit they make, some flat-out can't access the funds despite going through the whole verification process. I used the demo account for MT4 with Roboforex and I liked it, but I'm a bit concerned about all these bad things I'm seeing about them. Does FXCM have these kind of problems?

While I'm not authorized to comment personally, I can refer you to comments from the joint press release by Leucadia and FXCM last month:

"The Credit Agreement would be extended by one year to January 2018 to allow FXCM more time to optimize remaining asset sales. While FXCM is actively marketing the non-core assets it has identified to be sold, Leucadia and FXCM concluded that greater value could be realized for all stakeholders through additional time to complete the asset sales."



Our CEO Drew Niv had these additional comments:

FXCM's MT4 platform does account for swap (rollover interest) and commission*. However, these do not appear in the same line on our MT4 platform. Instead, they appear in a separate line in the Account History as shown below.

This has to do with how the MT4 platform links to our back office to provide you with Single Sign On access to MT4 and Trading Station for trading, and MyFXCM.com for account administration. You can view complete Reports and Statement Summaries for your MT4 account on Trading Station and MyFXCM.


* Standard and Active Trader accounts pay commissions on top of raw FX spreads, while Mini accounts pay no commissions and have all-inclusive spreads.

Hi all!

I see many think FXCM manipulates MT4. I havent seen it (yet).
I always stop trading with a brooker and withdraw my money if I think so
Often when I start a new strategi I use several brookers and compare them.
If something strange on one of them, I leave.
For now i test a EA strategi via tradecopier from a demo to 5 brookers. Use a tradecopier for give exact same orders to them all.
After a month or so I can leave the worst and transfer founds to the best.

Hi 9jatrader,

US regulations limit forex leverage to 50:1. Therefore, higher amounts of leverage are only available to FXCM clients living outside the US.

Specifically, Mini accounts ($50 account opening minimum) with equity less than 10k can have up to 400:1 forex leverage; between 10k and 20k up to 200:1.*

Standard accounts (2k minimum) all use No Dealing Desk (NDD) forex execution and can have up to 100:1 leverage outside the US.

* Mini accounts with equity greater than 20k are automatically converted to Standard accounts with NDD execution and a maximum of 100:1 leverage.
