Hi rtradern,

I just use the synergy TDI that is on the 1st page of this thread. To be honest, I don't worry too much about the settings. When I look at TDI first thing in the morning at NY close I want to see where my MBL is and where my price is on the chart.

Then I make my case on which side of the market I want to be and as the day progresses if I see a H4 cross on TDI, I'll take it.

Hello everyone,

Please don't others (including myself) way of looking at the market effect your current trades. Do your own pre trade analysis before you enter market. This is how I see this pair at this time, Its not to say that your trade won't work out.

Dennis,

I would really appreciate if you could stick with the right template on this thread. To answer your question please see the charts below. Yes, once the trade is gone we have benefit of hindsight and could have and would have started taking place in our heads...But we have to backtest and forward test everything so Market doesn't make us feel nervous and scared when it comes to pulling the trigger.

Hello Mr Aussie,

For my learning , the second chart the TDI cross happened above the buying sentiment line. What would have been your entry seeing as the TMS system says to enter at the first or second candle. I had this problem a lot while back testing. What are the factors that would make you go short if there is a short signal above the 68 line.


PS: How do you carry out your back & forward testing? Using strategy tester I find that I am constrained to one time frame. Theres also concerns about actual spread when back testing. I would be glad if you shared or pointed me to how to carry out a good test of the strategy. Thanks.

I'm assuming you are using the synergy_pro_tdi. If so they are not turning up at random, they are showing you something important as are the wicks that are different colors from the APB.

u r looking at this the wrong way - settings [RSI 10 or 13] on the indicator will make no diff what-so-ever - if u r a master of both ..... just pick one and master it [don't waste ur time jump'n from one to the other and not learning anyting ] .... i have been using the original Big E [page 1] TDI and have BT'd all versions [including most setting upto RSI 50] extensively .... indicators[settings] - money management - psychology etc wont save u if u dont know how to trade ..... front and center

Hi,
First of all: Big Thank you to Mr. Aussie and the rest of TMS experts helping here. You have created the most didactic thread on TMS. Congratulations for the great work!, really helpful.

Today I have tried to apply the rules trading the USDCHF H4 and I would like it if someone could give me some feedback on what I am doing. Below are the charts used for the set up: H4 and D1. My pretrade reasoning was: on H4, green is over red, both sloping up, and both over MBL as well as over the 50 line; MBL is below 50 but slightly pointing up. Previous candle closed above PAC. On D1: we have a pin bar the day before yesterday and a lows are higher for the last three (previous) days, today's open was slightly over yesterday close.

I opened the trade on the open of the 12:00 candle, with a 25 pip sl and 45 pip tp. It moved up soon and then faster as the news on economic data were released at 13:30. My question is: Did I applied the rules correctly? Was this move up expected according to TMS or I was just lucky I got good news backing it up? Also, is the 25 pip sl correct for this set up?

Just got stopped out at +10 pip, although it was up 25+ at some point...

thanks lookleft - i thought i had installed it wrong or something - found this PDF which i will keep beside when trading until i can remember what they mean

i havn't seen too many charts with Synergy Pro TDI on it ( i was reading the original TMS thread that had it simplified - still trying to wrap my head around this - i feel incredibly dense at times ) but from what i have observed through scrolling back in time that the best opportunity for a trade is when a cross happens at the MBL????

Congrats MrAussie, i remember many of your great contributions in the TMS thread, indeed i have many of your charts saved as references. This thread will be a great resource for the newbs as well as more experienced members. Cheers and goodluck!


@Po-Veteru, let me offer my feedback on your trades today. Firstly, we always start our analysis from the HTF (higher time frames) and then move to the LTF (lower time frames). Therefore, when looking first at the D1 USDCHF we see that all recent candles are below the PAC and 5ema, therefore we can only potentially consider short trades. The current open D1 candle is turning upwards, and bullish, but we will not know whether it is a setup candle until it closes. Once closed, we can judge the cross, if it closed over PAC/EMA, etc. Therefore, all of your H4 analysis would be counter what we see on D1, and this is against the rules. Remember, whatever TF we choose as our trading TF, we must always trade in the same direction of the next higher HF.


A back-testing exercise that i found to be particularly useful it to open a D1 chart and add a vertical line on our d1 setup candles (setup candle must meet all entry conditions). Then i switch down to h4 and analyze all tdi-crosses/Apbs that occur after the d1 setup candle (obviously in the same direction). This will show you the power of trading with the next HTF in your favor.

Keep reading and studying and the TMS rules will become second nature.

I can address 1 thing, and leave the rest for more experienced traders.
Trading into news is never advised, especially for beginners. Trading is about playing the "odds", trading into "major" news (unless you are experienced) just puts you at 50/50, coin flip regardless of your setup.
