NEW YORK--U.S. crude-oil stocks are expected to increase in data due Wednesday from the Department of Energy, according to a survey of analysts by The Wall Street Journal.
Estimates from 12 analysts surveyed showed that U.S. oil inventories are projected to have risen by 2.4 million barrels, on average, in the week ended Feb. 19.
Ten analysts expect stockpiles to rise, while two expect a fall. Forecasts range from a rise of 5.5 million barrels to a drop of 3 million barrels.
The closely watched survey from the Energy Information Administration is due at 10:30 a.m. EST Wednesday.
Gasoline stockpiles are expected to fall by 300,000 barrels, according to analysts. Eight analysts expect a drop, with three expecting a gain and one expecting no change. Estimates range from a rise of 3 million barrels to a drop of 2.5 million barrels.
Stocks of distillates, which include heating oil and diesel, are expected to fall by 700,000 barrels. Eight analysts expect a decline, while four see a rise. Forecasts range from a rise of 2 million barrels to a drop of 3 million barrels.
Refinery use is seen falling 0.5 percentage point to 87.8% of capacity, based on EIA data. Eight analysts expect a decline, while two see a rise and two didn't provide an estimate. Forecasts range from an increase of 0.5 point to a fall of 1.5 points.
The American Petroleum Institute, an industry group, said late Tuesday that its own data for that week showed a 7.1-million-barrel rise in crude supplies, a 569,000-barrel increase in gasoline stocks and a 267,000-barrel decrease in distillate inventories, according to market participants.

Looked like a really good % to me (0.8 compared to forecast -3.1, previous -8.4).

the forecast is -3.1 in the side of a long position in the past -8.4.
The news came out with the indicator 0.8. (Long), but few expected it.
My opinion is that a large number of traders were prepared for short positions,
the fact that we are with you and see. during the bidding.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report that gas storage levels fell by 138 billion cubic feet during the week ended Feb. 19, according to the average forecast of 19 analysts, brokers and traders surveyed by The Wall Street Journal.
The EIA is scheduled to release its storage data for the week on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EST.
For the Feb. 19 week, the median estimate is for a decline of 141 bcf. Estimates range from a draw of 126 bcf to a draw of 152 bcf. The estimate for Feb. 19 compares to 205 bcf drawn from storage for the same week last year and a five-year average drain of 144 bcf for that week.
If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of Feb. 19 totaled 2.568 trillion cubic feet, 30% above levels from a year ago and 28% above the five-year average for the same week.
