Institutional retail media says be careful of Brexit talks and watch for EURUSD to rebound after Brexit fears subside...

Here's a layman's wild view...

Total G7 viewer layman's viewpoint here...fantastical extrapolation here. Just surmising and guessing. Don't try to trade off it. And don't take it too seriously.

Grexit talks...Greece joined Euro because they thought that it would be good for their economy. EU wanted to boot them for debt and realized it could be a bad move and set precedent of other countries leaving, so decided to keep them. EU and Greece make a new deal. Greece stays in Euro, EURUSD goes up.

Brexit talks...Britain was and always has been reluctant to join EU from the beginning. To be seen as a "good ole boy" they reluctantly cooperated but was one of few (the only major EU country) to still retain their currency in circulation. Now that exiting from EU is becoming a possibility, politicians are pushing hard for it, BOE is currently gearing up contingency plans (ie probably regrading printing more quid and distributing it quickly). Britain's PM is recently actively hedging bets and trying to get guarantees with EU heads so that if they leave, they don't get discriminated against or politically shafted. Britain wants independence from EU, always has, and they will announce an exit as soon as they get current 50% or more general populace approval rating (which should happen by summer). EURUSD moves closer to parity or below. After Britain leaves, and other countries realize that EU taxation could be better handled by their own governments, Italy, France and Spain to move to follow independence from EU within 7 years or sooner. Euro currency goes back to what is derived from, the German mark within 12 years after they realized managing a bunch of smaller EU countries is a pain.

Personally, traveling to Europe was more interesting and more economical back when the local economies had their own local currencies. Bring back the Pound, French Franc, Deutsch Mark and Lira. Let's get more pairs to trade.

max...i disagree with u on 4 of ur 5 points...forex doesnt have centralized pricing,thats true but does a pip or even 2 pips make so much difference?

a 500 intraday emini margin is the same leverage if not more than a forex account considering the emini is 50 buks a point

Spoos have massive liquidity and 50 bucks a point but only 1 TicK spread most of the day 1 tick => 12.50

Also as mentioned no jacking around by brokers. simply impossible.

Can we end this discussion on the merits of trading SP futures over Forex?

They are two different instruments with two different fundamental functions and terms.

If this continues, you may as well start talking about the merits/demerits of stock option trading as well....When I last checked, this was and is basically still a EUR/USD discussion thread right? Not a general trading thread.

Let's get the trading instrument specific questions out of the way here...you can ask your broker or google it if you want/need more info, why waste time arguing about futures/forex.....Please, give us all a break.

your simply wrong

even the maths is wrong

E-Mini $50 per point
current value = 1919 * $50 = $95,950
margin required = $4,750
= 20:1 leverage

Leverage is leverage.
More leverage applied = more risk applied
Less leverage applied = less risk applied.

No difference between futures and forex leverage in principal.

Applied is the key word here.

And personal appropriateness prevails, over amount of leverage available to trade.

Each of us needs to apply the appropriate amount of leverage according to our trading methods/ideas/risk appetite.

It really becomes a circular discussion.

It's exchanged regulated the margin will be exactly the same

max..theres dozens of brokers offering 500 intraday margins on the emini...interactivebrokers even lowers it for intraday trading....the only time its regulated is if u hold overnite

Thanks man, I do scalp time to time but in these tight ranges I cant. One really needs proper skills to scalp in this kind of market.
I really would like to understand why the price behaviour changed last two weeks. When I look at the 4H chart, it is easy to see the lack of volatility however it has been a nonstop run to the major trendline, too bad I noticed this a little too late. What could you say about that, what does usually happen after such price behaviour, on one hand I feel like it is getting to explode to the upside and get back what it lost in a few 4H bars on the other it gives me the feeling it may crash to 1.0700s. I am really confused tbh, cant make up my mind about the medium term and have a clear bias.

Yeah one of those accounts is mine.. Believe me I am trying my best not to have any bias, it is just old habits.
