Despite weakness showing up in the US$ there are other currencies that might be weaker. For example CAD which is highly correlated with crude oil prices. I dont think the fall in crude is done yet so this pair could fly next week

I would have posted it sooner - if only I had noticed it sooner.



But this is Fed Res dollar index and data is only available at start of the following week (actually Tuesday). Talk about being behind the curve, like COT data.

Nice clean symmetrical 5 wave and correction following - which might complete shortly (this week maybe but because of data lag won't know till next week)

I thought historically monetary policies have had no long term effects on the currency.

Monetary policies imho always have an effect. If nzd bank reduces interest rates and continue to jawbone the currency it will fall in a sustainable way. What cannot be changed long term is the true fundamentals of a currency. It will overcome in the end imho. For example traders are running into the jpy because of fear. BOJ goes negative on interest rates. JPY initially weakens but has now strengthened again. The true fundamentals is it is a safety currency and unless there is no fear it will go down some more
