Not related, but please does anyone know why the Dow Jones index is ranging between the 16200 region for quite some time now?

yes, finally 1257. i expected it in January, just took a while. GU was a better trade anyway (although not by much)

good thing we closed those GU.

it will probably go higher after this correction but still dont see a good entry. might take a few days.
Be hopeful in a winning position, and fearful in a losing position.

Is your monitor upside down ?

breakout 1.18 = sell, sell, sell; compressing triangle is ~equal sell & buy
40 pip bounce off a 140 pip move is not exacly heavy buying.

to each his own. i can still remember a time similar to today when many were skeptical about employment figures. at the time in the eighties unemployment was high, extremely high. it was the start of the feds attack on people who actually saved their money. vulkar was the fed head. the politicians were crying to him, some even wanted to start including the military in the employment figures. to dilute the real rate. back then, they didnt like figures, so wouldnt except the real figures. so they wouldn't go down in history with a 10% + unemployment rate. long story, so vulkar caved in a little. unemployment dropped some. no where near today's unemployment rate, but it did drop. mainly in the face that red rates dropped for the next 30 years there after. whats different today is unemployment and outlook got better in the face of a real raise. that's not a sign of weakness. i know its nice to say the sky was going to fall to gain bandwagon members. the historical truth is not what many lead us to believe. lets win one for the gipper. and lets change facts.

I graduated in 85 so my exposure to Volker was limited to what the WSJ was reporting and it was beyond me at that point. These days, I don't really think about the figures too much, they kind of just are what they are with regards to the modeling. If the market reacts to them I'll adjust the input biasing a little if they don't I'll turn it down. For me it's the difference between what I believe the fundamental rate actually is versus where rates are actually at... In that differential, for me, lies the opportunity to speculate. I'm not a pulpit pounder, doesn't matter to me if something goes up or down, you'll never catch me arguing over parity etc. I look at all of it as opportunity.

That's a pretty good memory you have there, honestly I can barely remember what Bernanke did...
