Yea it does, because to buy USDJPY, everyone had to buy USD, hence it affected the other USD pairs as well, and a bit more than usually because the moves on the JPY was HUGE.

Wow. Dollar/yen was sold heavy today. Looks like it wants to go to new lows on dailys.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the EUR/USD fill this spike lower - or most of it - back in with a slow grind south. The initial reaction may have been the "right" one, but thin markets and pending buy orders just below triggered the whip. We'll know more in 24 hours. To me, open shorts from here still look good.

Only half of your statement is correct. The reserve part.

This morning, money flowed out of JPY like it was poison. When USDJPY goes up, JPY is selling off and USD is being bought.

In this case the reserve currency being bought is USD, because JPY is selling off, this will also affect EUR/USD and cause Euros to be sold against USD.

IN THIS CASE THIS MORNING, MONEY IS FLOWING OUT OF JPY AND EURO INTO THE USD SAFE HAVEN AND HIGHEST INTEREST RATE PAYER. Double whammy.

BOJ just decided to follow the course of Europe.

Whoever is advising the head of the BOJ must be from the outside like Goldman or other IBs or other CBs that want to use the J economy as an experiment.

To go from thinking about easing/devaluing JPY again, to suddenly neg rates is a hail mary move that we already see is not working well in Europe outside of Germany (basically the head of the ECB).

Anyway, the Japanese PM in his desperate attempt to keep the stock market up, just pissed all over it, and sped up the deterioration of the economy in Japan. What a stupid Kamikaze move, the head of BOJ will take the blame and resign first and then calls for the PM's resignation within a year will be in order. Once the general public understands wtf just happened, they won't stand for it, neg rates are great for CBs balance sheets, but bad for the economy. The BOJ just poisoned the J economy. What a boneheaded move, he could have gone to zero, or incrementally stepped it down by 100th or 1000th of a basis points, which would spur the excess funds to find other means of return naturally. But going to zero would have been politically suicidal, so instead, this move will kill off the economy faster in the long term and make as much money for CBs in the short term, in the meantime. Here's how:

1. A policy is put in place so that it costs money to park excess funds in the hopes that it will be spent in your own countries economy (as in Europe, but remember Europe is many countries, so that's why they did this, because they thought it would save the Eurozone).

2. You make it illegal to hoard cash (being discussed in Europe now for when CB member retail banks pass on the negative rate to consumer savings, which will happen for deposits over the insured amount, based on extrapolation of current situation).

3. You make it illegal or very difficult to move funds outside your country or directly invest outside your country. (China, illegal. The U.S. illegal/difficult).

What does this mean for EURUSD today and in the near future?

DOWN....DOWN....DOWN.

Hindsight is 20/20 ... that move yesterday was created by the BOJ and those in the know who knew about what was going to happen today. The move makes total sense now especially after a 78% retracement this morning which will turn into a 161+ retracement now.

There is no 1.10 EURUSD on the books now, possibly for at least a half year or more, unless the BOJ backtracks or makes this new policy sound as harmless as possible, which I don't think the markets will buy either way.

This is a MAJOR FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE in the USD right now too. Since now it is by far the strongest currency in the world. The US is going to be hard pressed to raise this year now and if it does....more USD buying outright. If it doesn't more USD buying in the form of stocks.

CONTINUATION:

This is a desperate attempt by the BOJ to peg the yen above 120 and based on cheap oil. Once oil doubles again within a year, which is cyclically does, Japan will feel the pain in a big way.

No big buyers are going to be buying EURUSD. The ones that were yesterday were tied to this announcement, those that knew.

Fundamentally USD is stronger than the three especially after the hike, now it's a done deal.

so are you telling me BOJ controls the euro??? your views are appreciated but euro will follow what ECB and FED does and not BOJ. at the moment fed are dovish and ecb unless it starts printing again euro will stay in 1.08-1.1 range
