Hi Honest = 10 out of 10 for perserevence! - did all you said. But still no joy. I have attached a screen shot = the only indication I can see that something is not right is the grey dot (as opposed to the yellow dots) in the bottom corner of the indicators folder = hope you can see it!!

No problem at all - I'd hate for this to beat us.
The grey dot is normal - it just means that you don't have the source code in the folder.
So when you drag that onto a chart, what exactly happens? Do you get the window open up to change the settings? e.g.

Actually, I think I can already see the problem. That is an unusual broker suffix.
Try changing your settings like so:

Hi - i think we may be getting somewhere. It wont let me open the folder. For example when I double click on any other indicator within that screen it lets me alter settings etc, but when I double click on maddash it literally does nothing so I cant get into the settings as I could before - thank you

Interesting... let's see what the Expert log shows then:
Please open up the terminal:

Right, I think I know what the problem was.

Version 1.31
Expiry date hard coded for 22 July 2016 (180 days)

Fixes:

  1. Potential zero-divide error
  2. Removed usage of recent MQL functions that aren't compatible with old versions of MetaTrader.


Enhancements:

  1. Broker autodetect improved

Hi Honest = same problem - I think i am going to install a broker platform with updated metatrader - and see how that goes. like you said we wont be beaten, if you were here id buy you a pint. thanks for your help friend

Great news! Yes, the numbers will come down as the history loads up.

But I'm still racking my brains to figure out what functions postdate your other build to prevent it from working... it was old but not that old

Just thought I would post one last reply in this episode. I apologise for jamming up the thread with numerous screen shots but it had to be done and with thanks to HK the issue was resolved. It is truly refreshing to be involved in a thread like this where the generosity of the few can potentially benefit the many. I will continue to watch this thread and remain greatfull to those who instigated it (you know who you are). HK i remain humbled by your generosity of time. I'm sure and hope you will be rewarded. Wow this is really an invaluable tool. I tweaked some different settings and took some trades based on these signals and sitting nicely in profit.

I had the same problem when I wanted to use 840 for running the strategy tester with an EA as 950's is soooooooooooooo slow. The compiled EX4 from 950 has changed internally so the older Terminal versions reject it. My solution was to recompile the sources on 840 which eliminated the problem. For this user, the upgrade is more appropriate.

You are providing a wonderful service and deserve all the accolades received. It is not often some of the developers are candid enough to admit coding errors although all make them, even me!

I have one question. If i open an chart from MADash i must every time set the chart it to my default settings. How can i make it to load my settings?

Once you created a chart with your own settings, save the template of that chart (right click > Template > Save template) ... Then you will be able to load this template on any other chart.
