It seems to me that the "newbies" start trading as soon as their broker opens. That's about the dumbest thing you can do in trading. Be patient, see where things are going. (most of the time nowhere until bigger markets like Europe and London open.)

I was patient..... I waited 30 minutes....

Hey, banks trade before the market even opens. They must be pretty dumb too.

{quote} I agree. Still, how does the saying go - you don't learn from hearing about other people's mistakes, you only learn from the ones that you make. For the trader's sake, just make sure that the mistake is not too expensive!

Wrong, I learn from any ones mistakes, including my own.

My own biggest mistake has cost me $14,000 in 5 minutes.
That was in March 2011, but I even managed to close the year in profit.!

I can tell you this, It was hard working the rest of the year, more than 100 hours per week!

I'll wait till London open.
1 hour earlier is Frankfurt opening but that is usually a crazy hour.

Yeah, I lied... It was 34 minutes 30 seconds. A trade set up is a trade set up. It doesn't matter to me when it happens. If you believe in the system you are trading, then you take all signals.

Everybody trades different.

GBPUSD extremely chopping after opening. I have done OK over the past two weeks shorting the pair, but I'm going to sit on the bleachers until this week's direction is found. Different timeframes are indicating different directions.

Better safe than sorry, eh!
