News trading discussion - continuation

Can you recommand us some good websites?

Why are you and others here wasting your time? vvFish is using demo MT4 accounts and even if his 'predicting the news' system wasn't just hot air, he's made it very obvious he's not telling anyone what he's doing. He's here to show his demo account statements and make newbies go, "ooh!". That is the extent of it. 99 pages and counting and not a single helpful suggestion from him. Sure, now and again he'll copy/paste some fundamental analysis from other websites or Baumohl's The Secrets of Economic Indicators in order to flesh out the thread... only to tell you to ignore all analysts in the very next breath. So what's the point of his doing this? The answer is: there is no reason for it other than to make him look smart.

In all these pages there have been only a handful of people to ask him proper questions about what he does - all of whom have hastily given up because vvFish only has three responses:

1. No response at all. - His main way of dealing with probing questions is to ignore the person completely and deluge the thread with more pretty MT4 pictures until the asker gets fed up and goes away.
2. Encourages people to 'study' this thread: http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=493948. - Don't bother. The FF member Vigovski hoped to be able to predict the news spike in advance using an adorably simplistic method. Unfortunately his theory was neither logical nor statistically valid. The thread was eventually abandoned and only our smiling shark pal remained at the end.
3. Writes some incomprehensible gobbledygook that makes people go: - , , , perhaps and eventually . Okay, maybe I'm being a little mean here. He doesn't understand English very well and has stated he relies on Google Translate. Nevertheless, he doesn't make any attempt whatsoever to find common ground with his interlocutors and instead churns out soundbites like his latest one in reply to Pulke:

Sorry vvFish, there is NO such saying. Sure, I get what you're driving at (... I think!). Pulke asked you to recommend some news sites or providers (and now Avo has asked the same), but you're not going to help them. Instead you have given them the flippant and utterly useless suggestion to look 'deeper'. Great advice. Simply terrific. Here's a phrase to add to your repertoire: 'a needle in a haystack'.

So guys and gals, yes, there are websites out there and there is information to be obtained about trading the news. Unlike our fiendish fish friend, I will be straight with you and tell you that it is not in my interest to give you a step by step guide. I'll give you a few (hopefully unambiguous) pointers on your quest though:

If you have the tenacity to stick with trading and find any degree of consistent success you'll soon realise that a big myth associated with forex is the amount of liquidity on offer. Finding a niche which makes you regular money is something you'll want to safeguard and the more people who use your trading approach the less there will be for you. The tasty pie is limited, but the hungry mouths are not.

Read this and understand the nature of what is involved in the lead up to a news release. Let it sink in. Consider the magnitude of importance and the degree of security that is involved in keeping economic numbers under lock and key. Think then of the movie Back to the Future 2. Remember the premise? Biff goes back in time with the Sports Almanac to give to his younger self and in so doing makes a fortune. Return now to the trading world and think of economic data in the same way. Bottom line: Markets move on news - even if only for a few seconds. Now, think what vvFish is trying to have you believe. Without 'telling you the inner secrets', he's trying to convince you that he has a way of predicting the direction the market is going to spike before the news is released. I'm not saying such a thing is totally impossible. Using tools such as volume, market sentiment and order flow, there maaaaay be a way of being able to position yourself in advance of the economic numbers and ride out the storm without being smashed to smithereens in the process. Maybe. What I strongly contest however is that it's possible to have +90% success by merely looking at a bunch of silly technical indicators OR price itself for that matter. Neither of these will tell you anything of value. I'm not just saying this as a mere dogmatic assertion. You will see the truth of my statement when you understand how technical indicators are made and how they generate signals. Similarly, the old adage that 'price is king' is also a misnomer. Price is price, that's all. By itself it tells you nothing about future VALUE.

Think about the things I've written before getting too jealous of grinning cartoon sharks and their 'winnings'.

Before writing, I would like to see something from you .I mean screenshots or videos on your trade.
If you can not then you need to go to other topics where there are more pages of all different but there is nothing concrete.

We are all entitled to our opinions. From the little I know about trading, there are traders who pull off what seems impossible to many of us. And I believe VVFish is one of them. It is true he has not been very open about how he does it, but then that should not mean that what he posts here is not true.

Like I have said before, those trying to learn his way of doing it will only end up frustrated. Personally I use his posts for inspiration.

P*ssing contests may impress children, not adults. My displaying or lack of displaying videos/screenshots has nothing whatsoever to do with YOUR inability to prove that technical indicators and price alone are sufficient to successfully predict news spikes. That is what is important here and any other serious minded traders will see the truth of my statement.

While I may have misunderstood your pidgin English, I know an insult when it is thrown at me. Believe me, I only pop into ForexFactory once in awhile, so you'll get rid of me soon enough.

That's nice. And in your other MT4 demo, whose video you deleted, you bought the DAX. "No I didn't!", you angrily proclaim. You have no way of proving you didn't and I have no way of proving you did. Therefore we've all learned an important lesson here today: videos and screenshots are meaningless. Know what isn't meaningless? Being able to answer specific questions and points which are fired at you. With that in mind, feel free at any time to answer my points about the nature of price and technical indicators and how neither can predict news spikes. When you refute my contentions with pure logic then I'll worship at your feet and apologise every day for the rest of my life. Until then, have fun conning the noobs.

Agreed. While fairly successful in my own right I know quite a few traders who are literally leagues above me. I doubt vvFish falls into this category, but I'm perfectly willing for him to prove me wrong.

It doesn't mean that it IS true either. Until/if he is more open (and answers my points against him) then I'm sorry, the emperor has no clothes in my eyes.

If endless MT4 screenshots and non-existent post content inspire you then fair enough. I can't argue with that.

1. If vvFish was a genuine trader AND truly wanted me to answer his questions, why would he ignore me before giving me the chance to respond? Hmm?
2. Why wouldn't he answer the points I posed in my initial post?

I'm not here to offend anyone,all has their great points, but I would like to say the fact that definitely vvfish's post is helping me and my news trade is getting lot better now.He was kind enough to help me in private for the technical problem also.

Then you clearly missed the Trade Balance report from South Africa, which was scheduled less than three hours from the time you posted. It's not your fault though, it's not as if you're a news trader or anything.

On investing.com , this is listed as a "Low Volatility Expected" event. I don't follow such events usually.

Is it posibble to trade such events? And if so- how?

If you have something to teach then teach. Fair enough call out shenanigans if you believe Fish's teachings to be untrue, this will only end up helping traders to ask the validity of VVFish's posts. But if you believe it is untrue then teach people what is true, teach us your points of view and what steps you have taken to get where you are today. No point calling out someone, slightly abusing them and then leaving, this doesn't help anyone.

Thank you for the time and effort you have put into this thread, I'm sure you do not feel disgruntled by Ian's posts but let it be known you are helping traders (whether it is all bulls**t or not). For myself it has been to start trading on the exotics, which I wasn't before plus using the wheelbarrow EA. These things have giving me a couple of new tools to use.

Welcome back hope you had a wonderful holiday and you had charged your batteries to start this new year 2016.

We have a couple of news to trade today so let's see if we can get some pips from them. Remember liquidity remains low and will come gradually this month as investors and other participants come back to the game again.

At 8:15 am EST the US will release ADP Non-Farm Employment Change. Expected at 193K after a prior of 217K.
At 10:00 am EDT the US will release ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI. Expected at 56.0 after a prior of 55.9.
At 10:30 am EDT the EIA will release Crude Oil Inventories. Check expected number a couple of minutes before the publication.
I don't have statistics at the moment.

At 2:00 pm the FOMC will release Meeting Minutes.
It will provide some volatility if you want to scalp a few pips.

Why did Crude go down ? , I thought it was supposed to go up on negative numbers ?

I was short before the news but tried for a reversal based on the numbers .....I'm new to news trading .
