This chart is easier.

-1150 pips in 2015.

Unless this market drops to near parity and they get net long at that price,
Oanda retail traders as a whole lost money this year trading the EU (have they ever not?)

This doesn't even take into consideration when the market is very heavily short or long.
It's only when the threshold crosses the 1% mark of net long/short that I even track it.

This is absolute best case scenario. The performance is much worse than this.

One thing I also learned over the years is that it doesn't matter what your RR is if your hit ratio is high. For example, if you aim for 100 pips but it only goes 50, but you risked 100, would you let it go to break even because your "RR rules said you had to"? If you are a smart trader you will know when to get out of the trade, so +50 will be good enough, its better than 0. The RR becomes irrelevant at such point when you are already floating profits. All that matters at that point is securing the profit, so the next trade becomes less risky. If that makes sense...


0.6% a day is my goal .often looking for two trades per day to make 0.5% each with 0.25% risk,
knowing some days I will fall short and some targets won't reach, but if perfect would be 5% per week

If 3% per week can be sustained for 5 years it takes a measily $25,000 starting balance to 5.2 million, 30 million in 7 years and 900 million in 10 years.


even at 100 mil. $250k risk... 125 million in volume (still just a drop in the pond, even for intraday) x 20 pip stop = 0.25% loss, 40 pip target = +0.5%

Something looks fishy there. Maybe it's a scam trade explorer. I don't know how people set them up but I hear it is possible.

Wow, so much crap in one post, i wonder who even reads this. I just quickly read the words "0.6% a day" or 3% a week. Forget it, it's an illusion. Professionals aim to make about 10-30% per year, which is realistic. You are talking about over 100% a year, which is unrealistic. Watch this Video Pro's vs amateurs, he knows what he's talking about:

You're so very true! I have heard a few; but most, if not all profitable Forex or other commodity traders are not active in forums anymore. They already know the truth about being profitable and prefers to be silent - thus trading most of the time is boring, so they say.

But yes I know few of them who are successful traders trading options and currencies with unbelievable performance they have week after week, year after year and they have one thing in common, they don't know the market at all. they respect the market like she's alive - they always say to make money in the business is to follow the market, to follow her lead.

Just like you said, these men knows that loses is inevitable in this business, so management is the key to survival then experience and skill will bring you to top among others.

Since it's slow going now and we have been posting about "Millionaire traders",,Goals,, Targets and such. as a part time guy,my goals are simple, based on a daily and weekly target USD amount. i trade small lot size and conservative pip targets most of the time,and close for profit at the first sign reversal. don't always hit my goals but close enough that for a year now, i have at least made my car payment. so that's a "free car" and that is good enough for me,for now.
