Did you choose long randomly, or is there any logic behind this choice? I had to ask, because I am always scared to trade NFP. Thanks in advance for the answer!

Whoops, didn't realize today was NFP day! yikes, my demo acount lost about 50% value!!!! Not closing orders hoping they move back in my direction. Biggest dissapointment was this was my best account so far and I had almost doubled it last week, and then total destruction this week...back to learning and practicing!

I feel that I might need a narrower focus, and am overwhelming myself looking for TDI crosses on all pairs without understanding price action enough. Maybe last week was just luck? Or maybe I am just an overtrader lol.

Anywho, thanks Emm for all you do it is very appreciated!

It was more of Fundamental and NEWS trades ....
After having seen $ printing -ve numbers for few important parameters, I knew that for $ to go up, NFP should return huge numbers, more than expected, which, as i had posted earlier yesterday, was highly unlikely.
Investors / Traders need returns ... On their portfolios.
These are the reasons for going Long ...

Hi,

I use 1% to 2% of my base capital not the equity and calculate the position size of every trade.
Every trade has its initial risk R in pips and every trade result is measured in multiple of R. If one trade hit the initial SL, that would be -1R. Position sizing is key in my money management strategy plus a few other components to consider such as keeping drawdown to 10%, recovering from drawdowns, etc.
Dr Van Tharps book title Definitive Guide to Position Sizing is a good source of information to develop your money management strategy. Google the subject and you will find preview of this book. Attached is the content page of his book. This is a 'must have ' book of knowledge for investors/traders alike.

However, professional traders like DM has other position sizing methods. Something for traders who trade small accounts and fix lot size to consider.

Hope you guys have had a good week of trading the TMS.
Don't forget to pay extra attention to when the green TDI line bursts through and "breaks" the blue Volatility bands as this means the trend will continue in that direction for some time and you will make a shit load of profit.
Whenever I see the blue volatility bands being pierced in the H1 and H4 charts I'll jump in (or i'll stay in if I'm already that trade).

And after a choppy start to the week I can always rely on TMS to see me hit my conservative weekly target of 100 pips.

Great tip, even tho I removed the bands a year ago, its a good tip once one knows how it works, and well done on the results

Hi,

That is a very good document to have. I used that in 2007 and develop my trading business plan and since then I have still the same content and layout. This same document was used in the development of TMS-II in 2013.
What is important is that every trader must have some sort of a trading plan and follow that every day when you trade. The chapter 12 is where you prepare your trade setups, entries and exits - with both charts examples and descriptions, is a very important part of this document. This same chapter should be use for three systems - H1/M15 for very short term/intraday trading, H4 for 4H short swing trading and for longer term D1 for Position trading. To trade full time and to fulfill your financial golas, it is better to have different systems to trade different market conditions. Being a full-time trader mans that you must be able to trade all different market conditions and timeframes. What you need is the same 5-Method as the core trading methodology and use that for all three systems.

GBPUSD Week 41 5 to 9 Oct:

GU still bearish as seen in the MN chart. Last week we saw the bearish momentum reduced as it approach NFP on Friday. NFP created a bullish Day candle but there is no reversal seen. Next week, we are likely to see some 'correction' to recent support turned resistance.
Short term buys are likely early next week and I would be watching the H4 price action for intra-week reversal to the downside for continuation.

A few questions you have to ask:
- is the market trending or sideways? short term / long term.
- are we in or near a consolidation area?
- where would sellers have their stops as market approached NFP on Friday?
- what would you do seeing that divergence seen on the D1 chart?
- what would you want to see for a bullish reversal?

Do you use the Weekly for the Primary Trend?

Do you agree the TDI is useless in the Weekly and Monthly chart timeframes?

Dear Emm, these are my thoughts on GU ... your thoughts and advice appreciated, as always .........

Monthly – Market, right now, is at a very strong Psychological area of resistance and support area. Though, September closed below the Open, it left wicks at both ends.
Weekly – Nothing much to write home about here, except previous Weekly candle closed right at Open and Price is at previous area of support and with the confluence of Big Round Number 1.5100. The oscillator being above 50 line, trend looks to be turning back.
Daily – Market is oversold and a Bullish Divergence right on oversold area. This area also has the confluence of previous areas of support and consolidation.
4H – Whole week, it was more or less consolidation, whole week being around just 125 pips. The consolation is The Oscillator being above 50 line.
1H – A perfect Hammer to end the week, an indication of Bulls taking control at the fog end of a consolidating week.
Comments – Bullish Divergence on Daily candle, right at oversold region, indicates some reversal in a down trend. Will it just be a reversal or beginning of an uptrend? Wednesday should give The Answer for this.
