If found out, the entire auto industry gets turned up side down- but no one can afford that. US may have saved GM for their own future wars, but they can't turn around and punish VW by the same rules they wouldn't hold GM accountable for. Lawyers, lobbys, governments wont allow it.

I'm no professional in that field- perhaps I'm wrong and VW gets anal raped by the US govt, goes under, and pulls Germany and EU with it.

gm switches were from the old gm. the new gm came out of bankruptcy w/o any legal liability to the old gm. what was paid, was done for by the new gm was for marketing reasons. the gm switches were engineered to work properly.

vw has engineered their cars to fool emission standards (deaths if any unknown). its not a bp type of situation because it dont have dead birds/fish on the news. but as bp learned it can be expensive to lie about pollution in the u.s. especially when done on purpose.

You're right, but new GM knew about old GM

I don't disagree that VW will be hurt financially, but they wont be the only ones...the pain will be spread around equally, therefor not focused on one entity.

BP survived, and they murdered/poisoned every ecosystem on Earth live on TV. My opinion is that the news is sensationalizing the issue for views. What legislature is passing behind our backs? Will we still hear about this in two months if a German bus explodes? I simply think the US government's bark is much louder than its bite on issues regarding large companies breaking eco laws.

i am reasonably sure California will be more aggressive on pollution matters in suites.
anyway eu at 1229 atm... lets c if she wants higher.

To piggy back on that, BP is to pay 18 billion in fines for the spill.

Some are estimating VW to pay that same amount. Not going to happen. A fine of course, but not 18 billion. My guesstimate is in the single digits.

Either way, impossible to say for either side yet. A good debate regardless

yeah well lots of others will be in line with lawyers, some real some not. its a huge pool, not just owners of cars like gm switch.

eurusd now has a reversal candle in the H4 timeframe, nicely positioned, I'm assuming it will go down (I'm assuming yellen speech will make usd positive) , although I chose to not trade it due to:
1. low liquidity now (not gonna move much)
2. a new day coming soon (spreads widen)
3. yellen speak exactly at the beginning of new day (there's no guarantee of what will happen, better stay out)
