If I try to do options trades that are "infinite risk" in TDA Roth IRA account, those trades are blocked. They told me that they would not allow futures/options on futures trading from the IRA account. Never hurts to ask, though, and no proof like just trying to do it and see what happens.

You can set up a self-directed IRA account through a number of established account custodians. In those, you can trade just about anything. I know people who do RE investing through those kinds of setups. The question I would have is: what kind of protection (FDIC) is offered on your deposits with those custodians?

Obviously- the whole point of a retirement account is to have one when you get there

The question was answered though- futures can be traded in an IRA depending on broker. I was under the impression they couldn't be traded

Clearing 1.136x target on the European opening & that was pretty much it until the Fed decision. Without surprises a healthy mattress for playing the FOMC.....

Typical PA. Tested the core of that weekly candle and indecision at 1.131x.

Interesting week ahead. All eyes on weighing the commodity/risk reaction via either FED action or inaction. The implications are complex on this particular pair so not as straight forward as the technical picture: as pointed out earlier on this page +- 1.1464 is the clear technical entry for shorts, either fast or with an extended range.

Wednesday's inflation prints could pre-empt the FED trigger wise with the actual call providing the follow through if we're looking for a buffer/mattress so something else to look out for.

GL to all for this very interesting week and congrats to the bulls from the lows.

... very simple sessions across the board. Euro held 1.136x as widely expected. All key markets forming compression zones intraday for the FOMC with plenty of major swings melting in the oven. Particularly interesting OIL and GOLD with cheap tickets on offer for today close.

no way, esse - time to nut up. Easier trade on a Fed whiff, for my money, is just a VIX crash back to the August lows, and corresponding risk rally in the indices (SPY for me) - back to the August highs. Oil maybe too but dicier...but anyway, I'm bigger on the other end cuz I think they bite the bullet.

I don't disagree with you my bias is 100% neutral for the FOMC. My personal opinion and macro numbers are aligned for a hike (a small one) but FED is flirting with chickening out after the big legs in August ...so I CANT just overlook the latest strong moves.

--> I am only loaded in the euro given the simple ride after NFP. In Equities I am flat as a pancake and I will remain so until the announcement. However in Dollar, OIL and GOLD (among the majors) the latest sharp legs unlocked the other side too (no hikes sep) from a technical point of view (both sides open ...therefore short term neutral outlooks in all of them).

--> Based on experience alone, Treasuries (not trading this week) and Gold will lead pre rates and gold is flirting to turn around for the announcement. In simple words I wont be surprise with a rally in gold / drop in dollar with no hikes. Whether you want to bid the preemptive cheap ticket is a whole different matter and depends on risk aversion more than anything else (OIL and GOLD looks very tempting for today close). I will personally only consider playing them with inflation reports the day before ...

We'll see ...

I'm in since early August, two-sided trades on VXX, SPY, a little bit on the high-yield bond etf, HYG.....mostly for Sept expiry (the day after the FOMC) some bullish VXX spreads for October, in case we get a spike to end the month & then a reversion, smaller hedging trades for the week after Sept expiry......gonna be glorious, nothing to do but wait now....good luck, mate.

Slightly bullish closes in OIL, Gold and Euro triggering early alerts for this week moves ... Expecting chop until Wednesday inflation (oil inventories too) numbers that could trigger the start of the FED announcement moves ...

.... inline (with revisions) retail sales but ufff what a miss in the Empire State Manufacturing Index. It wasn't a one off last time but its actually a massive turn around. This number will bring tail (sadly it remind me of the pre financial collapse in 2008) when NY turned sour way before the rest of the US....

Whatever the case, strong misses in expectations in Germany and now in NY .... FED under extreme pressure as expected and they may have missed the window for hikes earlier this year ....

NY to come but nothing to see across the board. Expecting chop zone all over the place...
