Yes, close all trade at the first opposite colored box, but wait til the candle closes as it may move farther as price continues. I always wait til the next candle opens, then close all.

On the 22nd, if you put a horizontal line at you closing point, you would have had only 4 losers but 8 winners. Late trades are not that much of a concern as you are still in the New York trading time and can still see price movements. Anything after New York's close I'd be very wary on taking any trades. It's always best to use whatever discretion you desire, but be consistent in doing so. I don't know why you chart isn't showing the same info, did you download the template in post 1 and put it in your templates folder? I've removed and reloaded the indicator numerous times, all with the same result.

Stop loss is totally up to you. I can't really recommend anything as I don't use it on this strategy. You might just have to use some trial and error. Individually, you have every luxury to exit trades whenever you desire.

The indicator itself is based on the high's and lows that are attained over time like a Zigzag indicator, but the thing is, these high's and lows never change in the past so the indicator will show the same boxes as it has no reason to redraw. Now if price itself could change in the past, I could say that this would repaint.

Drawdown, such an evil thought . Drawdown should never be a concern if your account is funded properly. Say you are running an 80 level structure but only use .01 lots per level. you are only putting .8 lots in play at a worst case scenario so your funding could be more reasonable. But it all depends on what you have to risk versus the amount in your account. Me personally, without divulging any personal info, I've never had more the 30-35% drawdown on a 60 level structure with a total of 8.58 lots possible. So if you do the math, you can ballpark what my account is funded with, so I am never concerned about drawdown. July 10th was a great example and I will do a chart of that day later on to show you my breakdown and how it played out in the end.

Hi, thanks for the system. Best thing would be to do is backtest with ea over few years..just to see what the max level it goes to and how often.

Thanks for coming back so quickly.

If you look at this chart, no blue buy signals like you have in your chart.

What could be causing this? Does anyone else have the same issue?

What broker do you use for this strategy? I think price feed might be impacting on the indicator output?

If you look at the same chart I have with FXPro on 22nd July. All signals match yours except 1.

Thank you mer071898 for sharing you system with us . seems nice... i have some question :

1- how much SL and TP should we set?
i know you said close trades after opposite signal appear but seems lost a lot of trades without TP and SL (look at pic)

2- is it working on GBPUSD only ?

is there anyone can make it as EA ?

What about 7 Jul? I`ve counted 75+ blue squares. So, I think that it needs more levels - maybe 100. But even 100 levels is not guarantee. Anyway it is very interesting trading method. Maybe someone can create EA? Then we can test it for much longer periods

I wouldn't trade this method until I get an answer to the above. Going back not even a month displays 75+ boxes, going back several years could have days when there are 200 or god knows how many boxes. Definite Margin Call.

To the thread creator, how long have you used this method for, and what was the maximum # of boxes in a row that you've witnessed?

I'm sure price feed will have and impact on signal accuracy. I am using OctaFX. Also make sure your input setting is set to 325.

Here's the thing, I am using 60 as a base structure, but I have the funding to add more positions to that without hurting my margin whatsoever if I feel it necessary. Remember in the first post I used a 40 level structure as an example, if you want 100 levels, use 100 levels. The number of levels is not the issue, having the appropriate account balance for the lots in play is. If you have 60, 80, or even 100 levels, it may seem like a lot but even if you use just .01 lots for all 100 levels there is only 1 full lot in play. For safety, I try not to increase lot sizes until 2/3's of my structure is in play. Even then I don't ramp it up until almost the end of the level. I may only have 1-1.5 lots in play in the first 45-50 levels, everyone is going to be different.

An EA would definitely help for those who want to test it out, if you know anyone willing to tackle it, have them visit the thread. Again, I am not fond of EA's as I like to make adjustments to my trading on the fly.

I've used this for around 9-10 months, so it is still pretty new. The 75+ was the biggest I've seen so far with several in the 40-60 range, July 10th being the latest one. And don't get me wrong, I bit the bullet and added to my positions on the 7th and I did take a loss. There was probably just as many total lots in those 15+ levels at the end than the previous 60 levels before it. I also increased my starting lot size over the next several days to help offset those rare large runs that you see, but that was a personal choice and not advised. That's part of the risk, just like a fib retracement, you go up, up, up, and then get knocked down a bit. But then you get back on the horse and continue. If you are on a 4 hour or daily chart, I can see 200 boxes, there's just too much price action to see a run like that on a one minute chart.

I'm just worried the one signal it misses is the buy or sell exit signal.

Unfortunately, I don't have any excel stuff for lot sizes. I continue to trade until I've doubled my account (which is still a few years out), then I increase my lot size accordingly (.01 goes to .02, .05 goes to .10, etc...). As I mentioned above, lot sizing and when to increase is totally at your discretion.

The problem with trading .01 lots for every trade is if you have a run and your opposite signal cuts your run in half, you just break even or have a little loss/gain. Let's use July 10th I mentioned above. The closing price for all trades was at 1.54789. There were 37 trades at a loss and 23 trades in profit (60 total, yes another scary one). Go back and use .01 for all trades and see what your pip total would be for each trade, whether +or - and add the total up. Then go back and use these lot sizes as an example:

1-30=.01
31-45=.02
46-55=.05
56-57=.13
58-59=.34
60 =.89

Add up your pip total using your lot size as a multiplier as you can see the difference. This example may not always work as you may only have 25 trades in which they'd be all .01. My point is to try and calculate your lots sizings to where no matter how my levels you have the last 1/3 of your levels in play should equal roughly double the first 2/3's total lots. If you have 30 levels in play and the first 20 levels are at .20 lots (.01 X 20), the next 10 should roughly add up to .40 lots. It's a tough calculation and it doesn't have to be exact but you want your winning trades to negate your losing trades and then some. Think of it as one large basket of trade with a main goal to be profitable overall.

Trade 1=+18 pips
Trade 2=+17 pips
Trade 3=+19 pips
Trade 4=+18 pips
Trade 5=+19 pips
Trade 6=+19 pips

Total-+93 pips

My suggestion would be to avoid trading on the morning of any high impact news.

That appears to be our cause of 7th July batch ending up in mega DD.

I will factor this in before I open positions for the day. It appears most baskets are closed daily.
