Stops are extremely important, but you must know how to use them. Truth is, most traders use way to much leverage and because of this, as soon as they get a few pips in profit, they move it to breakeven and almost immediately get stopped out with no profit. when stop loss price level equal to buy/sell leve. i.e you buy eurusd @ 1.0870 market move to 1.0879 and you put yor stop loss @ 1.0870. it is BE. so if price of eurusd drop to 1.0870 your stop will work and you don't loss any money but this is very simple example, for BE it is necessary that market move in your direction, calculating stop loss level is also a different game.
