I do hope you realise how dangerous trading at that leverage would be..

If you know what you are doing and have a good strategy then high leverage is not dangerous.

And what happens when (not if) you get caught through slippage?

I know when to trade and i dont trade during news hours or big announcements to come.

If only it was that simple! What about unannounced news events? What about lack of liquidity?

EUR/USD is verry liquid en is most traded currency. unannounced events are rarely happening and maybe when it happend i have no trade

Of course. I didn't mean to come across that way. I just wouldn't want to see Ziaf with negative equity and have to sell his house or something. Sounds scary but I see a lot of people in this situation surprisingly often.

I think the reason 1:400 doesn't exist much is because it's so risky. You'd only have to get slipped a few hundred pips and you'd all of a sudden owe the broker more money than you physically own, never mind the amount you deposited. Remember what's printed on every broker page you visit: losses can exceed your initial investment. I'm just saying be careful.

Forex isn't a get rich quick - if you see it as one, in my opinion your already in the 90% that fail.

Yes Ziaf, you can trade however you decide to trade - but just be careful and aware of what can go wrong at any point in time! Is it worth risking potentially having hundreds of thousands in debt for the sake of a bit more profit!

Of course, but remember with higher leverage you get lower margin requirements and no where says that you need to use all the leverage you get

Theory
When is a news announcement, lets say NFP and we anticipate 100 pip move then:
open with full leverage @ market: 1:500. It has a spread, lets ignore from our calculations , for now, because it is minor
If the price will go in favor 20 pip then the account is doubled, as equity. 20 pip + 2 spread exactly.
So you have 100 usd + 100 usd as floatig ( equity) it is free margin.
Use that floating free margin and buy/sell id, so double the trade size.
The price will go 20 pip + spread more in favor. Then you have 200 usd more free margin - until now 40 pip + spreads and 400 usd
Add more position with those free 200 and so on.

In each 20 pip + spread you double the account
100 pip / 20 = 5 so you double 5 times:
100->200->400->800->1600->3200 usd.
From here you need to double only 2x and you did it already 5x.
What is the success rate to do it like this and never move the price against you for 20 pip - spread, that is total other story.

This is the single reason, why to use 1:100 leverage or more.

And in theory it is nice.
In practice. An ECN account will give you slippage: 2 pip, 6 pip, 10 pip...
A MM has no chance to put on the market and you are pulling money from his pocket, maybe next time your trades aren't executed, requotes given, money withdrawn not allowed, winner trades deleted and so on The list can be long.

If you aren't doing in the news, then the price will bounce.
1:400 leverage it means at 25 pip is a margin call. at EUR/USD 25 pip can be hit in the 1h chart, are you burning your account at 1m chart?

I don't understand how to not trade at news with so much leverage and not at MM, maybe you give me an example, but please no Martingale system.

I don't properly understand but if your account would be doubled by a 20 pip move what happens if you get slipped 200 pips in an unannounced news event? could you afford to then have to pay the broker 10X your investment?

I mean a weekend gap could be double that with the greece news at the moment.

Or even more so, what if you lose 10 trades in a row can you handle that? It's not uncommon to lose 10 trades in a row yet be a very successful trader. No system is 100%.

it's not about the leverage my friends... it's about the integrity of the broker....

so what if you are right and made 20 pips on a 400:1 if you cannot get your winnings from your broker ???

trade with a good, reputable and professional brokers is all it needs....
