Have you tried loading the indicator onto different broker platforms ?

I have loaded it successfully on 2 other platforms, one did not with reason 8 for uninit.
It loaded ok even on one with a suffix on the currency pair.

Maybe just bad luck with your brokers platform.

I'm not ruling out a coding on error on my side, but at the moment it seems to be an isolated case.

So before I started delving into the code, let's check out a few more things. The EA (original version) and the indicator (latest version) will NOT play well together if they are somehow applied to the same chart. I wonder if that is the cause.

There is no need to have the original EA any more, so please go through everywhere you may have placed any version of MADdash (indicators folder, experts folder, scripts folder, libraries folder) and delete them all by following the instructions I posted before.

Now add the indicator into the MQL4\Indicators folder and restart your terminal. You should only see one instance of MADdash and it should be located under Indicators.

Open up a completely blank chart (if your default chart template includes EAs or Indicators, please manually remove them from your freshly opened chart).

Now apply the indicator and see what you get.

Thanks for your help on the fault-finding

FYI: almost certainly the reason 8 was because it couldn't find some of the pairs. Hopefully the expert log gave some details?

No problem.

This was my thinking also, that even Live platforms may be missing some pairs for calculation, if the indicator can't find them, it uninitialises.

edit : I found the problem with platform that did not load the indicator, it was CHF pairs, NZDCHF missing and CADCHF was CHFCAD in the marketwatch list.
It never gets easier, you just get better

One great advantage of trading the strongest against the weakest currency is that you will never be swimming against the intraday trend. If you violate that, then you pay the price, and if price pulls back on you, chances are, you will get out with very little bruises unless you entered after a very strong move. Just my 2 cents.

GBPCAD Short - almost nailed me but DD was about 18 pips and as soon as it went into profit, I closed it

My goal is a little here, a little there - slow and steady wins the race. Never allow the market to take back what it has given you, and always take whatever the market gives you.

Leaving for work now, and probably done for the day

Its alive! thank you guys for your concern and feedback, it does seem like a clash between the two madDash indicators
I deleted both and installed only the one from post #85 into mql4/indicators, restarted application
And this time added it to the eurusd chart, dont think that makes much difference. Now to understand entries and exits..

First signal, sell GBPAUD, the pair has fallen~180 pips already so i can see why the designers were saying sometimes the entries are 'late' well thats typical of a continuation method, so either expect pullback, if original target was not reached ie 2.039 for entry if 2.032 is not crossed, this is based upon 16.30 sell call GMT
I wonder how different calls will be between brokers and applications

The MadDash is neat, but dont forget trend.
Looking at my previous post, there was a sell signal for gbpaud, however most higher time frames are uptrend, so selling is risky. Therefore only half the calls should be considered due to trend, or at least trend must be factored in with trade calls

I would really love to try this out although am having the same problem someone mentioned earlier, i.e. the Experts tab shows Custom indicator MADdash loaded successfully and then removed right away.

Admittedly not really experienced with MetaTrader 4. I can't figure out how to open a blank chart or delete EURUSD for instance after creating a new EURUSD chart. Perhaps the issue is due to using a new EURUSD chart rather than a blank chart?

Any chance the .mq4 could be posted to help figure this out?

I would like to highlight a better mod to suit trading: Add filter for Moving Average SLOPES, this is so important.

For example, alert to SELL as follows, BUT would you take this sell in a uptrend?

Current code only take consideration of how far price away from MA, but it doesn't tell the real trend cause price can be below, say 50sma in given example, but the SLOPE is up in a uptrend.

Trend is relative... depends on your perspective & consideration of higher tf's...
aka WHICH slope would be more important?? We don't know...

I'm not saying you're wrong to be cautious about taking the signal...
what I'm saying is that this 'signal' is about correlating strength v. weakness, supply/demand displayed as price movement.
The EUR is at a support level right now... on almost all pairs... the Greece debacle looks like there's 'hope' (again)...
but
if the EUR shows WEAKNESS tomorrow (anything like it did today)... then you can forget about support and Greece and slope...
know what I mean???

I think we WANT to keep this tool 'blind' in some ways.

which slope? well, we are talking about MTF so if using SMA50 for all same direction slope, it would be even a greater signal.

adding an optional small filter like this would improve trading probability greatly.

Hi Belief,

The default MA for the dash is 37 SSMA of Typical Price and you can always change it to any MA or 50 SMA of whatever you want. Therefore the signals you will get will be in agreement with the MA slope on your chart. This is what this tool is for - to tell you when price is either above or below the MA on your chart, and get an alert when it is 10 pips away from the MA slope. You can also change this default alert threshold to whatever you want.

Play around with it and take screenshots of the signals generated under different MA conditions and check the charts as to its precision or otherwise.

The MADdash below is set to 50 EMA of close and alert threshold of 20 pips, and I just took this screenshot about 10 minutes ago with the accompanying chart

You have 4 signal alerts but I will concentrate only on the EUR & AUD groups!!! Why? Because (1) AUD shows total weakness against all pairs from M1 to M15 and (2) EUR shows absolute strength against all but EU on M1 and EN on M15 but it beats them all other TFs. Therefore look at the resultant EA chart.

I forgot to add that you will never get a sell signal against the MA you set on your chart when price is above it. You can get diverging signals on different M1 to M15 TF but they will never agree as the one I just pointed to you above.

hai there i have similar problem..when i load the ea it shows successfully load ..then there was an error. can any one help me to solve this problem. tq

I had this issue and resolved it by doing two things. 1- adding every pair know to man, no just kidding.. all but the absurd crosses. Be sure you have cadchf chfjpy nzdchf and all those kind of pairs. usdddk type of pairs wont matter.
2- delete all maddash files, from any folder. Then download or have at the ready the one indicator from post #85
Add it to mql4/indicators
Finally restart application, add the maddash to a blank chart, with zero indicators, auto trading on or off (makes no diff)

Great post, this is the benchmark so we can add to a potential run..this is promising. I will try to keep an eye on this type of setup also must have trend, EURAUD for most parts was in an uptrend, so for it to begin again with m1-5and15 means we get in early..

Hi Verve,

What do you mean about "adding every pair"? Does this have something to do with the Global Variables? Do I need to add new Global Variables manually myself?
Also still don't know how to create a "blank chart". When I select "New Chart" I have to select a currency pair.

I have deleted all other copies of MADdash except for the version in post #85 as you mentioned.

Suspect my broker does not supply all pairs needed. Wish the .mq4 was available to help debug.
