News donīt mean anything anymore these days it seems, just pure speculation driven. Also clear itīs algos since the fewest of those take news into account but just trade technical. Hence news get no more weight as computers donīt care about those. Thatīs what this market tells us Iīd think....

he made that comment years ago, when greece was in the news..
the april one was he wouldn't change the comment made years before is the way i took it.
it looks like many are adding to it, out of context. it looks it was just a comment toward 2012 comment.."say exactly the same words today."

From that post ... Draghi said "It is pointless to go short on the euro" ... but the comment needed to be read in context. From the comments, it was also helpfully pointed out:
It would be "pointless" to bet against the single currency, Draghi said in 2012, adding on Saturday that he would "say exactly the same words today."
So he is saying he wouldn't go back on something he said in 2012. Lets not get carried away. I'm pretty sure a Grexit would trump something he said in 2012.
Here's the thing, though ... the Bloomberg is now carrying the headline.

What a strange week. It started with a false Obama stament (an american president saying dollar is too strong?!). After denyal a bull run started anyway. Then good news for the dollar and the dollar go down.
Moreover Merkel and Kuroda.
Two hypothesis for this movement:
The wild one: to avoid being trapped in inflactional spiral due to high dollar, as it always happened in the past during strong dollar times, central bankers are deliberately weakening the greenback. They might want to avoid a deep fall of their currencies, that would certanily occur if they don't sell dollar before they hike rates. In fx trends can be self validating, and euro and yen can become toilet paper if they don't do anything about it.
Another hypothesis: A good deal with greece is on his way to come, and someone knows it.

Additional hypothesis: The Goldman effect. Last week Goldman told its clients to get ready to sell the Euro - it's heading for parity. And by now the market knows when Goldman tells the muppets to do something you should do the opposite.
