Yeah, very true. If I get out with what little profit I (finally) have I've locked that in, AND there's NOTHING to keep me from entering a new trade going the same way, if price keeps moving that way.

This!

Ratmach: what you are doing now is probably what you were doing before: making decisions because of greed! Be very careful about that. Better to be grateful about your second chance and close it and rethink your play. There is always a next day to trade, that way! If you continue trading by greed, you will soon run out of "next days" to trade. If you're unsure about what's happening, play with very small lotsizes until you've got the hang of it or if you're into demo trading, try that. Good luck.

Yep, thanks. Lots of good advice here, and I'm definitely listening. And yeah, I'm currently doing tiny little lot sizes (based on a tiny % of my account size), so I was at least smart enough to know to start really small. So really, considering that I win far more often than I lose, if I just get past this psychological hurdle (being tempted to hold onto the occasional loser, rather than setting a SL to begin with) I should be good.

It's good advice. I guess I'll set my SL to breakeven for my EURUSD short.

But I feel like it's the worst thing in the world to make the right call, get stopped out due to a retracement, and then miss a big move down.

But I guess not using an SL and blowing an account is worse...

M5 ... trending south for the moment next touch of 07700 might cause an oversold bump up for a few, maybe even 07950. Overall end of the volatility session, will see in the morning.

First post here. Things are really interesting around here! Lots of chit chat going on. Anyway, trader for 6 years here with a Masters degree in financial engineering.

Regarding this pair, euro looks out of momentum for the time being but have to keep in mind thst the range is still holding and not until we break the 1.0723 level could we resume our bearish trend. Right now this is still consolidation period and i wouldnt go longterm either way. 1.770 is key. So is 1.1050. The range will hold until further news from Greece or more updates regarding the oil agreement with Iran. Lots of people are relying on rate hikes as the number one driver for this pair, missing other factors, this pair wont last long around these levels, 1.0520 will be hit soon opening the multi year low around 1.0450. Something big is right around the corner guys.

I will posting some of the trades i take on this pair, as im more into stocks and shares, too much politics around here y'know.

Current position: Look to sell around 1.0840/45

...and we rolled. Bears didn't blink at the close and still held the hand intraday leaving the door wide open for a test 1.073x.

New intraday levels in play after the news and today close. 1.077x for the overnight session until Europe opens for do or kill for bulls this week. Nothing to do here except wait to see how it pans out so same swing levels, same plays, same all...

Will admit to being a bit gun shy after the last FOMC minutes (and watching a lot of patient shorting unravel...). Took an almost no lev. long from 1.077 just to see, but am feeling better about starting to short again.

UC 2400 held - for now anyway, I will be looking to short for another attemps using this weeks open as my marker 2556, FOMC done its thing, going to be a low liquidity day until tomorrow, becareful fomc then low data means troubled market
au kiwi looking to flip back to long but need a few more candles first, maybe a test of the fomc low not sure today may be a ​good day for the beach
