Need help turning my trading into a business

I don't consider myself an expert of any sort and that is why I am asking for help. I am now in a tipping point of my trading career, that i need to stop thinking of this as a hobby. I want to register this officially as a business to take advantage of the tax benefits but problem is that my capital is only $9k. I day trade, so my commission expenses are big and I doubt i can keep this as a hobby since I do this for a living. Can anyone point me to the right direction? Or advice me on how to approach this situation.
Btw, I did checked with my accountant and she has no clue about trading as a business.

How about chatting with taxation dept to get an idea of where you stand with them?

In Aust the tax office generally determines trading quantity and size to determine how you are taxed, then if it is officially 'a business operation'. It's a bit of a gray area here and generally falls under share trading, then taxed as personal income, company rates or how ever you want to run it. But I have no idea how the U.S. conduct such ventures.

Like in most businesses you will not start taking a income especially with the capital you are investing for at least a year maybe 2 or 3. Keep records of all transactions and then when you have made enough that you to declare it you can set up a business then.

Just do a search for an accounting firm in the US called Green trader or something along that line. probably the best for your situation.

No way for 9K. The most what you can enjoy is futures trading through some retail broker.
This business requires a lot of money to get established officially, around 500K. If you are good enough with trading results, you might consider prop firm to hire you, so it'll be turned to fully legal side.

You know this already though as you have used the word 'problem' and 'capital' in the same sentence.

Grow from what you have in a professional manner. Just because you have 9K, this shouldn't stop you from treating it as a business.
But making a living from 9K is unrealistic.

Making a living the the U.S. is unrealistic. In other places, it is not. If you don't have a family, and can make a consistent amount every month, why not just build it for a while, and go to Thailand or something and live

Open a biz checking account. You can go to legal zoom for not much money anf do a llc or any kind of corp.
