Here we go for key inflation numbers in the US. Important from a technical side because of the monthly close flows and more importantly from a fundamental perspective because the latest surprise dovish FED minutes and later Yellen comments on inflation related to hikes.

For the news, particular attention to KEY core inflation as it will take out the collapse of oil prices of the equation. Expecting inline with expectations flat number, however any overshoot/undershoot can send strong opposite signal short term via the FED expectations.

For the fundamentals side:

  1. A big overshoot in inflation [not expected] will send the dollar in a one way ticket to the sky as it will put the FED on spot for the next meeting to start delineating hikes by July ....
  2. And an undershoot that triggers deflation concerns will extend the range in dollar and give the FED the benefit of the doubt to keep "patience" in their expectations.

For the actual flows for the news play:

  1. An inline with expectations will leave the door wide open for a retest of 1.134x before NY open and London goes home before any attempt to test the floor.
  2. An overshoot, it a one way ticket (no time to load) to break the floor 1.127x to 1.116x with intermediate stops at 1.123x...
  3. An undershoot, extends the range play to 1.137x with intermediate stops at 1.134x ...

Yup i like what has been said there. I look mainly for overshoot up which is very important but not likely to happen as you said. In any case ill be shorting EU 348 if news are bear/mixed.

Well, you said it mate, bull trap - 5576 not reached. I was hoping we are gonna reach that number pre GDP, which shoot us down. Slowed E/G and Geppy.

Still I was watching 5576 as an intraday overshoot, I dont see GU running up like a stallion, but more of like slowly ranging. So 5413 test in my books prety valid for bull move and actually healthy. Poor bulls need to have some rest, and we also need some guys to buy pounds from .

Mixed bag reports in the US. Core inflation tick above last reading but in general inline with expectation as whole ...

Yeah, pity was almost a no brainer espeically with extended weekly range. Anyway, totally flat day in everything for me today. This Core CPI print is very USD bullish, imo. NY are probably going to rock this.

If this goes from below 1300 up above 1340 again...I give up on bears...I really want to see some break, so this stupid range is gone.
